Hello everyone,
Thanks for allowing me to join. Just looking to get Back into slot car racing as not done any since my childhood but have been looking around to decide which manufacturers track I should purchase.
Hi,
Dumb questions, I am sure but...
1) Do all new-ish cars have similar performance?
2) Can Scalextric non-DPR cars be converted to digital at some point? It seems like damn near every one I want to buy is not DPR. Ideally there would be some future proofing...
3) Any must have Scalextric cars?
Scott
Hi
I thought I was already a member but realise I am not...until now.
I have enjoyed slot cars since 1965 but never stepped out of the home environment and no great improvements on out of box models although last year I discovered slot-it (discovered or rather finally had enough money for some of them)
Anyway I am delighted to be here so thank you for having me.
Hello fellow Slot Racers. Thanks for letting me join.
I am an ancient racer (I can remember push button Scalextric!!) recently returned to slot racing, and will probably be picking your brains on equipment and techniques.
I have a few F1 and Endurance cars which I run on my two lane 40 foot track using ARC Air which I think is brilliant.
Thinking I might upgrade to Digital at some point.
Allan
Hi,
I am looking to get a set for my son for Christmas. I have been poking around with different options but am a little flummoxed. I'd like to wade in with a set that is cool / fully-featured enough to be interesting w/o going 100% in for many $100s. This will be a set that we set up and tear down in the living room, playroom, etc
I narrowed it down to a Scalextric analog set, American Police Chase. It has some features, a couple of cool cars, and is pretty reasonable. The rub is that a lot of reviewers on Amazon and Youtube complain about poor performance / intermittent power delivery, particularly when the controller is stepped down, like one might for a kid. With more digging, this complaint seems to show up pretty regularly with Scalextric.
1) Any experience or opinions on this issue?
2) Any opinions on this set or recommendations for others?
3) Any thoughts on whether to start with analog vs digital, particularly for a new child user?
4) Carrera v Scalextric...let me have it!
One of those 'picker' series with staged deals on old stuff. This one worth a look for some vintage slot car content featuring Chicagoland Raceway:

Go to about 12 minutes in.
The whole series is available on demand if you have satellite TV and contains some seriously cool stuff once you ignore the artificial nature of the purchases.
Team Slot SRE22 Ford Escort MKII RS2000 X-Pack Martini - UK Limited Editon 400 units. RRP £60. Available next week.
This UK-exclusive limited edition car was announced by Staffs Slot Cars UK last year and is finally on its way from Spain, along with two Escort X-Pack road cars in Daytona Yellow (TMS13001) and Venetian Red (TMS13002).
The Martini car is modeled on Jay Gough's fabulous 1977 RS2000 that has featured at car shows and racing events over the past decade. Jay is part of the HT Racing group and the Escort has been his personal project since he bought it in 2006. The original car had the Zakspeed-inspired X-Pack body kit that was a very desirable factory option back in the late 70s. He has tweaked the car - restoring the front to a more typical slant-nose, compared to the flat front that had been added to the car at some point. Car show attendees and concours judges also drool over the engine bay - a work of art, with the 2.4 litre Pinto pushing out 240bhp, 0-60 in 4 seconds and a standing quarter mile in 13 seconds - Jay's RS2000 has been a regular at the Brighton Speed Trials.
Although the X-Pack body kit has been extended an inch or two here and there, Gough has resisted the temptation to stretch the boundaries too far. The changes are subtle and tasteful, allowing Team Slot to produce a superbly accurate model of the 21st-century Martini car alongside period X-Pack road cars and the forthcoming Zakspeed racing version.
Underneath the Team Slot body shell is a new chassis with extended wheelbase and wider front and rear track. The car is fitted with the new TS13 30k 'Taurus' motor in an anglewinder configuration. Paired with the wide aluminium rear hubs, this is going to be one fast car!
The Martini Gough car and two X-Pack road cars are due in the UK any day and will be with retailers in the next week. Pendles, MRE, Typhoon Slots & Models and Top Slots & Trains all have the car available on pre-order now.
Many thanks to Steve at Staffs Slot Cars UK for sending us the pictures and for commissioning this sensational slot car in the first place.
Hi , thanks for allowing me to join this site.
I came to the hobby quite late in life, but are throughly enjoying the challenge.
I am into Scalextric digital and have produced a track in a 15 x8 foot shed.I love the apb c7042 unit and coupled with rcs64 gives me hours of fun. I love GT racing so can indulge myself with various gt cars, however I am open to all aspects.
Many thanks
Widders
