Rnd 8 Sat 17th August
With many of the regulars on holiday or at weddings attendance dropped to eight, so only the middle four of the six lanes were used to allow for sufficient marshals and a race controller. It wasn't so long ago eight was considered a high turnout but nowadays it's at the low end of the scale, with membership up around sixteen. It did mean more racing this time though, there being sufficient time for three classes again.
Time to get down to the 'serious' stuff - well, a bit more serious anyway. Scalextric, SCX and Slot.it manufactured cars took to the track, representing an Alfa Romeo 155, BMW 125, Ford Sierra Cosworth, two Honda Civics, a Honda Accord, Nissan Skyline, Vauxhall Calibra and a VW Passat. Quite a field!
A great relaxed and fun social evening with much laughter. Next time, attendance back into double figures?

Support race 1, Scalextric Porsche 911 GT3's.
New to the club car portfolio all the Porsches had been stripped and rebuilt, with new wiring and tyres. The result was very close racing with Mark J leading home David and Shaun by a little over one point four laps. Vic and Bill were a lap down on the second and third place duo, with Alan, Wayne and James bringing up the rear, in that order but very tightly grouped.
Support race 2, Scalextric Karts.
Oops!
... and the winner is? SHAUN!
Plenty of racing incidents, as could be expected with open-wheeled racing but all good clean fun. Another class, another winner, Shaun taking the top step of the podium ahead of David and Mark J. Although completely different weapons the lap scores were remarkably similar to the Porsche class, Shaun posting just a third of a lap more, David a fifth of a lap less and the rest of the group much the same as before.
Main race, Owner/driver Saloons.

A good mix of cars: 1 SCX, 2 Scalextric & 1 Slot.it ...........with 3 Scalextric v 1 Slot.it this time.
A couple of Scalextric Civic's do battle plus a lovely - and rare? Slot.it Alfa 155
The sole SCX car, a Honda Accord A Scalextric BMW 125 & Slot.it Nissan fight for position.
It made for interesting racing, with Vic bringing his car home 1.4 laps ahead of Shaun's Halfords Civic and 1.8 laps ahead of Mark J's Sierra Cosworth. Racing was VERY close, apart from Wayne's 'Old School' Scalextric Calibra - but he just enjoys the opportunity to run lots of his home cars on a big track. Looked the part though.
