I have retrieved this basket case from the box of bits and would like to resurrect it. All the main parts are there but the rear wheels are cream crackered and the front tyres are missing.

Spares are readily available from Pendle or Inaslot but I can't work out which one of their big selection of wheels is the correct one.

Can anybody help me with the correct part numbers please?

Mission8: Trials and tribulations of racing BMW's latest GTE

On September 2017 the BMW M8GTE made its first public appearance at the Frankfurt Autoshow.
Set to compete in both the  2018 FIA World Endurance Championship and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship,
it also marked BMW's return to Le Mans with its first factory-backed car since 2011.

Talking shop
Press releases were full of the usual corporate shop talk, how the new M8 would be sporting a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8,
make about 500 horsepower and would incorporated BMW's latest cutting edge technology, aerodynamics, laser lights
...bla, bla, bla....

Clearly the Munich brand was grabbing the opportunity to use the GTE as a marketing tool for its M8 coupe road car.
The street legal version of the M8 GTE not due to make its first appearance until may 2018.

I could not have cared less, chances are I'll never be able to own a M8, let alone race one in the flesh.
The moment I saw the first images of the GTE, I stopped reading...cause all I could think of was:
"How was I going to get my hands on that car.... and race it at Le Mans...1/32nd"

Time Flies when you're having fun
Since then two years have past, time sure flies when your having fun. A lot has happened in between, the M8 has won the Daytona 24hrs...
...and has been canned in the WEC. I waited almost a year for one of the major manufacturers to do this car...never happened.
So exactly one year ago I decided not to wait any longer, and started my own mission8.

In this topic I will post the trails and tribulations I've come through on my Mission8. As I write this the project is already starting its second year...
So before I start posting...I already have a shitload of backlogged posts Bigsmile

From a unique scratch build  one off...to a limited production kit
But before I turn the clock back to 2018, here's an image of how far the project has advanced so far.
I took this image a week ago, it shows the 3D printed body that will be used as a master for the GRP laminated body...
...or actually bodies.
Because as the initial Mission Goal is now within reach, I have decided to extend the mission objective.
In the last 6 month I've been working closely with SV Workz on other projects . As a result of this close cooperation we've decided to do a limited edition run of mission8 kits.
Meaning that after I've run the car at the 1/32nd 2020 Le Mans 24hrs... you could race this car too.

To be continued:

With kind regards

The screw marked with the red arrow is used to convert the operation of the chip into a different but digital manufacturer's mode, all well and good.

What I do not quite understand is why the screw and not a simple slide switch? .......  Is it just a matter of cost??

We have discussed mowing grass before but my subject for this morning is hedge trimming!

We have a four acre plot and along one boundary is a public right of way. My darling wife decided that a screen would be a good idea so along the edge of the cultivated bit is a long and now quite tall (2.5 metre) laurel. Quick growing see Tappingfoot

We try and use manual methods where possible to do our bit but ye gods, using cutters and trimmers is hard on 72 year old shoulders. I did about 20 metres this morning and I'm now collapsed over the Mac and having coffee and chocolate to revive me.

I still think Ronnie is rotten to waive the 'her outside' - 'me inside' rule. Caught me out as clearly, once the inside is done.........

It pees me right off to see 'you have 5 missed calls from 123456789' and not once did they think to leave a text, if you can't be arsed sending a text you're not important enough to call back.

Another phone pain...QUEUES! waiting 25 minutes for someone at my local telecom provider to answer the bloody phone.

A local whinge - TT week petrol price hike

Who knew???

I have always known about the 6 wheel Tyrell, and the 6 wheel Williams.  But I never knew about the 1970 Alfa 33 and Porsche 917.

These photos are credited to Louis Gallianos.

Typical FIA - they promptly changed the rules in 1970, and all development stopped.

  So!

So, this one is really driving me round the bend. So, who decreed that every single sentence has to be started with..."So"?

So, I had to turn off the radio the other day because a politician did it for ten minutes non stop in answer to every single question.

Hanging is too good for them.

Or Biased Broadcasting Corporation.
Not only does it push its own political agenda, scaremonger, and lean so far on the PC scale its embarrassing, but they can't support themselves in this day and age when all other channels manage, junk the licensce scam I say !

When I click on a thread with a recent piost it takes me to the first page.  I then have the option to jump to the next page but not to the end.

Not a problem with most threads BUT recalls popular threads that run to 10 or more pages means a lot of bottom clicking to get to the end.

Can you add an “end” button or even set it so that clicking the thread takes you to the last page?  Otherwise you end up trawling through loads of pages you have already read to get to the newest contribution at the end.

Once some threads get over 20 pages I guess most people won’t bother.  The members new cars thread will easily get massive if other forums are anything to go by.

Or am I missing something?

PS I am viewing this on IOS most of the time.
