As I mentioned on the 2021 purchases thread, I bought these because I liked the mad bodykit on a modern mustang idea.
I didn't like the wheels, so I intended to change those, re-gear the car and be done.
At the time I was also ordering another couple of chassis from Angelo of Amato slot car design, and we got to conversing about stuff chassis related.
The upshot was he had things in development and Angelo agreed I could do some R&D
Now, most of us know that Carrera cars are pretty heavy, so I wanted to use a long can motor for torque and braking improvements, and as these cars were nice and wide, may as well see if we could make it an AW as that's my layout of choice on cars that can take it.
To begin - the stock car.

It should be noted, the wheels and tyres are Hooooge ... a bit over 25mm diameter in total, the wheel and tyre combo I will be using comes in at 23mm.
The body isn't light !

Built like a tank, we may be able to lose a few grams chopping that interior about, but I will not be trying to thin out the body
Onto the chassis, one thing I had overlooked was to use the drop in pod conversion, I would need to cut the chassis in 2 at the wheel wells and use the adaptor a to hold it together.
![[Image: SywumpS.jpg]](https://i.imgur.com/SywumpS.jpg)
I wasn't keen on that idea, so I decided as I had a wide chassis, I could recess some of the adaptor and use it to strengthen the chassis where I would be making it weak.
So my old faithful rotary tool came out and I set to work.
Kudos again to Angelo, the pod was dremeled quite thin in places and is holding up through my ham fistedness

With that done, I now had to take the plunge, and chop a hole in the chassis.
My plan was to retain the stock bushings for now, so I can use them to ensure the pod and adaptor are in the right place and aligned properly when I get to epoxying. i will also cut out the AW parts from the chassis after the whole lot has been epoxied and set.

The stock axle has some offset ... The pod I am using temporarily to ensure alignment is a 0 offset Scaleauto inline. It needed 3 mm of spacers to bring it to the stock bearing height, hence the super long screws !
So my plan for the AW is to use a 0.7mm offset Sideways pod (as used on the GT3 Cars) along with 1mm offset bushes, and if required, some 1mm spacers on the pod.

Because I wanted to retain the stock axle holders and bushing until the adaptor is set in place the fit is a little snug ATM, So I need to shave a little more off the back of the pod
(I already shaved the bottom of the bearing upright in the chassis as far as I could) but I ran out of time in the mancave, so that's it for now .. TBC
At the end of this month SRC will launch the striking gold/black Grifone Lancia Delta S4 of Fabrizzio Tabaton and Luca Tedeschini, winners of the Rally Príncipe de Asturias 1986. Their Delta S4 will appear in the full detailed Original version. Later their winning Rally Costa Brava 1986 Delta S4 will follow. After winning six rallies of the European Rally Championship, Tabaton became European Rally Champion 1986.
Here are the first photos of Tabaton's winning Rally Principe de Asturias 1986 Lancia Delta S4 :

Is anyone out there?
I haven't received my email notification yet, so not sure if you can see me...
Morning all
After ordering the Batmobile Scalextric car, I started looking at other cars from my childhood to see if they exist in 1/32 slot car form
Not many do! So does anyone know if there’s an individual or company that could take diecast models and chop/change into a slot car for me?
The cars I’d love to get are
Ghostbusters Echo 1 (can only find HO scale)
Professionals Gold 3.0 mkIII Capri
Saint XJS
A Team van
Scooby Doo Mystery Machine
The Rinky Dink Panthermobile (big pink car the Pink Panther got out of in the credits)
Cheers
Rob
Hi all
I have some bits of classic scalextric track that’s no longer required
From memory there are some straights, banked and normal curves, crossovers and start finish straights. Maybe some other bits in the bag too
I’ll post some pics up tomorrow but if you want it, you can have it as long as you can collect from Leicester.
If it isn’t gone in a couple of weeks, I’ll be taking down the tip
Cheers
Rob
I once built a green Lotus 30 where I made several big mistakes. So another body was purchased to see if things could be improved the second time around.
Here's a quick reminder of what went wrong on the first Lotus. A big hole was cut into the interior to try and install an inline S-can motor. I had to switch to a slim-line motor to save that car as an inline drive.
The first step to making the correction was to install an NSR side-winder pod. There's a little more room in the engine bay. It was a bit more challenging than making an inline. But well worth the extra effort in the end.
This time the car has a full interior including a fire extinguisher, and a full driver right down to his shoes. It came with a tonneau cover for the passenger side. It was thankfully not needed for this build.
Thank you very kindly for looking.
I bought this car at a boot sale over ten years ago, it was in a box along with other cars a spares. They all dated from the same time. I have never been able to find out who built it but I just am in awe of the work that went into building it. It is 1/32 and apart from the motor, gears and wheels the complete car is hand made.
The main body is carved from balsa wood and is covered in aluminium foil. The chassis, suspension and steering are all brass. The front leaf springs are separate from the chassis mounted on small shackles so they actually work to a small extent. All I have done to the car since I found it is to clean and lube the motor and fit new MRRC tyres to the rear as the old ones were rock hard. I have run it a few times and although not fast is a real pleasure to drive with a great tail out attitude in the corners.
Not sure if I missed this change, but I have just had to pay VAT on some stuff I bought online from the USA.
What a great little country we have become.
