Just wondering if anyone has experience with the clear resins on their durability to remain clear?
I just got some Elegoo transparent resin in to try printing with the windows left in.  After coating with a clear topcoat the result does not look too bad to my old eyes.  Hopefully the coating will help against yellowing over time.

Going to let this one get some sunlight while I tweek the model a bit and fix my errors.

I got carried away, and thought I could make this fit my collection.  I can't.
It's had very minimal use.

It cost me over £40, but it's yours for £37.50 posted to UK addresses.  Outside the UK, I would need to check the cost.

Targa Florio night...

.
Five club members plus a visit from Mark to see how we're doing and have a go on a couple of tracks...
.
It's always good to see all four tracks in action plus we got to use the Ninco lap timer after it's sensor mod - it worked perfectly (when it wasn't half way down a flat out straight).
.
Mike brought a couple of Shelby Cobras, not seen in action for a long time and the one he chose went well.  The spare car was one of three sent to a proxy about 7 years ago.
.
Chris brought an E-type Jag (as expected) but decided his yellow Alpine A110 was much more competitive.  He managed to hold it back for most of the time but it started getting wayward nearer the 3 minute mark.  On the big track it was setting competitive lap times for a Small Sports car.
.
Kev practiced with his Ferrari 312 PB for a while but decided to use his Porsche 908/3.  He's raced it before on the big track but it seemed to go really well on the tight twisty Rally stages.
.
Ford GT40's were popular in the last Targa Florio night, tonight just the two (three actually if you include Brian's which threw a braid so was swapped for a club GT40) which went as well on the Rally stages as it does on the big track.  Geoff racing the NSR version (one of three yellow cars tonight) with rear tyres scrabbling for grip on Little Druidale's double loop...needed to get a lap back on Brian on Ballayorkley, but lost another lap in Heat #3 on Ballayorkley in Red lane - "I'm good in Red" coming back to haunt him...nice one Murray.
.
I looked through some Targa Florio results to find what classes these cars were in and added those to the results table.
.
The three results tables are listed by:

  • overall lap score
  • Targa Florio car type
  • MSCC class type

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next week is GP/Prewing F1 followed by Small Sports/Saloons which will be a relatively slow nights racing as these are the two slowest classes we race.  No doubt it'll be a great nights racing as that seems to be the norm this year.
My latest project, a birth year car for display
Bought in a real state for peanuts but slowly restoring into a box fresh condition
Several bits are in paint, being stripped of paint, new decals ordered along with a set of proper wheel and tyres.
Just about to paint my first 'dark' body, so thought I ought to mask the zones behind where the light lenses go to keep them white.
Am I following convention here, or is there a different way to do this?
The third running of our WHO Goodwood Revival takes place on Saturday 21 September, just a fortnight after the actual event at nearby RAF Westhampnett. It's a day devoted to 1:32 scale models of cars that competed in the 1948-1966 era, when the Goodwood Circuit was active, with all our classes and formats based on the Revival race meetings that began in 1998. 1948-66 dress code is encouraged, even if it's just a retro T-shirt or a flat cap...
There's a re-jig of the format for this year - the club car rotation has been dropped, which give us time for all six WHO Goodwood classes. The pairs and team race are at the start of the day and the individual races at the end...
There are likely to be loaners for the Whitsun Trophy race (almost certainly Scalextric GT40s), but not for the Sussex and Richmond Trophies.
We keep the same track that Mike designed for the inaugural Revival in 2022. The layout is aimed at smooth running and exciting digital racing for these models of classic cars - and has elements inspired by the Goodwood Circuit.
A condition of entry is that drivers have completed at least one WHO Digital event - ideally one of the Nascar & Legends evenings that take place in January, February, July & August each year. This is not a day to jump in the deep end and learn the ropes of digital racing! All the races use the RCS64 software, including fuel & tyre simulations and a weather simulation for the six-car Kinrara Trophy team race.
Race fees are £6 for adults, £4 for under-16s. We do ask that racers aged 13 years and under bring a responsible adult with them. There is a short lunch break, but lunch is not provided. A Tesco Express and a chip shop are about 4-5 minutes walk away - and there is a fridge, microwave and hot water urn in the kitchen.
A detailed guide to all the classes and to our Scalextric digital hardware & software is available here as an eleven-page pdf document.
We do aim to keep the classes and regulations the same for 2025, so you can also use this document to plan a trip to the Barn next year.
I haven't been able to run my cars for over two months, while upgrades to the attic have been underway.
I have had an electrician in to add more sockets, which has enabled me to fit an electric ladder.  The previous ladder, which was fitted nearly twenty years ago, was manual and awkward to raise/lower and also to climb, as it was fitted (not by me, I should add) with the top step right against a wall.   Tappingfoot
It's been quite a project, and has tested my DIY skills.
Yesterday evening was spent cleaning the track.
Wavegreen Good Morning,
Introduction
This month we will see the start of the proxy, most cars have arrived and hopefully get the remaining ones this week.
So I will start the photoshoot of the entrants cars over the next few days and look to do the qualifying during the next weekend.
SCOREBOARD
List of Entrants & cars
Technical sheet of Car Construction
Entrants Cars Photoshoot
RoadRunners
Ferrari 250GTO is a Fly body with 3d chassis car originally entered in the 22 IPS and would have been in the  23 IPS if it had taken place. I have changed the tyres from the original 7mm PCS to 8mm BRM (cut down), so on my track it's running better. The Ferrari 330 David Piper Spyder interpretation was a Policar white kit originally which I painted about 2 years ago and remained unfinished until now. The paint job to my eyes is actually rather good which is rather untypical of my usual standard, but I will let others judge  Talking
Makem
 2 scatchbuild cars, both looking great, personally love both these cars.
The Costin Lister Jaguar based on a resin shell, the Triumph Dolomite on a 3d printed shell. Both with 3d chassis. Not necessarily going to break any lap records, but perhaps a 3rd win of the "Spirit of the proxy" award in mind ?
Life Boats Racing (Jim Scott)
without their usual "RNLI" livery, but I know the entrant is a very keen Jim Clark devotee, and he has done a great job with this Supershell body and 3d printed chassis.
Sam D
After coming 3rd in the "Super Touring Cars Class" in last years proxy, Sam is offering this nicely running Slot it Chaparral 2E this time around.
I am sure this will be a very competitive car.
Team Cube (Oxo cube)
An interesting choice of models, the SRC body Capri with 3dchassis and Long Can Predator motor could be a "Dark horse" against the Camaro's. The Pink Karr body Ferrari 250GTO with 3d chassis might struggle against the more generously proportioned 250GTO versions.
Bangers Racing
What can you say "Triple Crown Winner" but does the entrant have another couple of winners here.
Ford P68 NSR body, Scalex body Rover SD1 both Slot it HRS2 adjustable chassis, could be a winner...or two there.
Ruscillo Racing
Have had mixed results during the proxy years, hoping for better this time. Standard set up cars the Camaro is Pioneer and the GT40 a Slot it. Both cars have competed in previous proxy events, but have been reworked for this one.
The GT40 appeared a couple of times on the podium of the InterSeries proxy in 2022.
Brumos RSR
If there was an award for the entrant whose entered the most proxies, then Tony would certainly win it outright. His expert knowledge has to be admired as much as his persistence. So its always a pleasure to pit ones own talents against him. His preference for metal chassis is demonstrated here with both his cars.
Porsche 904 is a Carrera body car with a formidable looking B&W chassis, if it runs as well as his previous Silver Porsche 904 then I think he can only loose this event by poor luck. The Camero has a Richard Mack steel sprung chassis, probably the best you can find on the scratchbuild components market.
So I expect these cars to be favourites for these Events.
ALS
Another of our welcome participating entrants from the other side of the pond, has mixed proxy results in the past, but these two cars are looking very strong competition. The Camaro is a Scalex body with B&W chassis, and we have a Thunderslot Mclaren, which is the first Thunderslot which has met the requirements of my rule set (not that I am against them). Both cars look to me that they had some action in previous events Stateside but I maybe wrong.
BAracer
In the past has not quite hit the sweet spot in regards to my proxies, but maybe this time will be in among the challengers.
An all yellow Ferrari livery, so easy to spot, The Ferrari 250GTO is a Fly body with 3d chassis, and the Ferrari 412P is Policar with standard chassis but Scaleauto motor mount. So I look forward to see how the RoadRunners & BAracer Ferrari's get on against a challenging field of cars.
Batmanx
One of our 3 Manx Club entrants, specialising in the Modified Standard class of cars. Could be on a winner this time with only 4 modified standard cars participating.
A nice looking pair of cars, the Scalextric Camaro will stand out compared to the other Camaro's.
ModSport (Kevan)
Kevan needs no introduction, regular contributor on Slotracer online and other forums, primarily a club racer but more recently taken to entering our proxy series. Already established as a strong builder of cars and Event winner, the Revell body Corvette with 3d chassis along with the NSR Ford MKIV looks like very competitive cars.
Le Manx
Another preferred scratchbuilder of metal chassis cars, these two cars are looking very strong contenders. The Jaguar XJ12C is a Resin body with B&W chassis, looking like a really mean machine. Similarly the Scalextric bodied Ford GT40 is hiding another one of these bespoke chassis. Both cars are in the money regarding as leading cars I think.
Paul C
A return to our proxy for Paul C (Mountain View), has faired quite well previously and knows how to set up a good car, so it will be interesting to see how this one runs against the pack of Camaro's. The Alfa GTV is a Fly body car with a 3d chassis.
Mike B
Has not participated for a while but is keen to get back into the proxy races, this is a Scalextric based Chaparral 2F. Like the Pink Karr GTO, it is not so generously proportioned as it might have been compared to the Slot it version, but probably much truer to scale. Again will not be a likely event winner but could be a potential class winner.
