We still have plenty of WHO Digital action to look forward to in 2024, but it is also time to plan for next season. The 2025 WHO Digital Guide has just been publish and can be downloaded here

.pdf WHO digital guide 2025 v1.0.pdf Size: 1.09 MB  Downloads: 472

The guide includes almost everything you need to know to race at our WHO digital events in 2025. For racers new to Scalextric digital racing, we do require you to complete at least one - and ideally two - of the Nascar & Legends Wednesdays before progressing to our other events. This makes sure your digital learning curve is as smooth as possible and ensures everyone has maximum fun.

Here's a summary of next season...

  • The popular Nascar & Pioneer Legends Wednesdays feature in January, February, July and August. These remain fantastic fun and are the perfect introduction to our Scalextric digital racing. All equipment is provided and there are also championship points to be won!
  • The WHO Digital GT Championship sees six GT teams compete for two-hours at Wednesday evening events in March, April and May - with a four-hour climax to the championship in June. Our six team captains provide cars for the championship, although you can run your own GT models in June’s warm-up pairs race.
  • The WHO Goodwood Revival is back in September. All six Goodwood classes are now squeezed into the day. The team and pairs races come first on the timetable, with the individual races in the afternoon. This is, without doubt, the most nerdy event of the year - and we make no apologies for that!
  • The WHO Birkett Relay gets a third running the following month - now as a six hour endurance race. Like the real event, every team runs six different classes of cars for an hour each. There are prizes for the overall ‘scratch race’ winners and the winners of the ‘handicap race’.
  • The season ends with two Tin-Top Saturdays in November and December. These will feature a three-race BTCC competition, a Group A team race, a Carrera Classic Nascar class, plus the Muscle Car Mondiale heats and feature format.
  • There’s also a return for the Wednesday night test session in August to help prepare your cars for the autumn Saturdays.

One rule change to note is that any standard-depth guide may now be used on GT cars, fitted with a suitable adapter (eg Pendle, Andi Rowland, Johhny's Workshop etc).

As Ryan is now studying up in London, we are looking at creating a Silver-Silver pairing for the GT Championship, which Ryan could join if he's in town. However, he has earned the accolade of Gold driver, so will keep that designation for 2025.

Planning ahead even further, Legends will take a break in 2026, with Scalextric & Pioneer 60s-70s Trans-Am / American Muscle cars returning to the Wednesday evening pairs race slot. This will leave just European models for the MCM Tin-Top Saturday format in a rebranded 'Euro Saloons' class.

Of course, if you have any questions, just ask.

Race results and report - 3rd October 2024 - 50’s & 60’s Monsters & Minis

.
The 5th of this years 6 theme nights, 50’s & 60’s Monsters & Minis was sure to put smiles on our faces, definite favourites seen on track. Mike’s mk 7 Jag, Andy’s Cadillac Le Monstre, the usual Minis…joined for the first time in this event by Ed’s Mustang, Brian’s Dodge Charger and Kev’s Ford Galaxie 500.
.
Sadly the video captured lags constantly for some unknown reason, nothing was changed on the laptop or the program settings since last week…
…but the most striking heat was the last Monsters race with Andy’s Le Monstre on one side and Kev’s Galaxie 500 on the other and Mike’s Mk7 Jag in the middle lane being passed at the same time twice by these other two cars coming out of the same corner…how on earth did three huge land barges like this corner side-by-side and make no contact!
.
The other two Monsters were also great to watch, both well setup by Brian & Ed over the last few weeks and will be seen again soon…
.
The Minis were also impressive, not as quick as the Monsters…except Brian’s Mini which was quicker now and again than his Dukes of Hazzard Dodge…
.
One Moggy Racer and five Minis kept you on your toes as they lull you into a false sense of security…then OFF!...great fun though.
.
The original idea was a team handicap using the qually times but there isn’t a fair way to do that without someone feeling disadvantaged…but next time will be down to who you choose as a team-mate.

.
It was a great evening of racing and I can't wait for another ‘M&M’ night.

This is the track i've rebuilt after an almost 10 years period of inactivity in the hobby following a move. It is based on    Scalextric classic and Sport rails and a DS monitoring system. I added sceney and a bridge in this version.
This is a link to a more detailed description on my channel :

Hi, I wasn't sure where to put this so please move if not in the right place.
I have a Racer Sideways white kit which I will eventually get to building.
I really like the look of the Spur gear it has.
It's obviously a angle winder but my question is.
Can you buy these type of spur and crown gears that Sideways use in their cars?
It's some type of metal Ali? I really like them and would like to get some for other inline builds.

If anyone has a name or link to what I'm looking for, I would be very grateful.

Cheers
Tony

I dont collect cars , in general, by brand. But I do have a huge penchant for the cars that started it for me back in the 60's
As you will see from previous posts I have bought some sets from the 60's. The one I REALLY covet is the V33 set with my favourite cars - The blower Bentley.

Scalextric made these wonderful replicas - granted in 1/30 scale, but none the less beautiful cars. And the Bentley really works well on the track as well.
As I live in Belgium, I suddenly realised a few years ago that I have access to French built cars, and started looking at the second hand sites in Europe. And over the years I have managed to pick up the French variants.
I have added here some artisinal replica cars made in Spain. Brian - CMOTD- has done an article on the legendary Red Bentley made in the 60's and when I could get a Red Recreation - I took it.. Same applies to the blue Replica Scalextric Bugatti - they are superb re-creations.
Also here are a few Hobbyclassic releases of the Pinkkar Bugs in National colours. Based on what Pinkkar Bugs are going for on the dreaded bay, these were a fantastic deal.

For me these are the best Scalextric cars (although the detail on some of the new cars is outstanding - eg Legends F1's)

PS I see there is an MMK interloper - this a detailed Talbot done by a friend - improves the original 100%

As some members will know, I am using NSR cars with SSD track and lane changers. I have a question which I would appreciate some help with please? but first some background info…

1/ I am using NSR AMG cars with their standard fit NSR white guides.
2/ I am using standard scalextric two-lane cross-over lane changers with their standard electronics.

Now the issue:

Sometimes when I command a ‘lane-change’, the car crosses towards the centre-line but instead of proceeding to the opposite lane, it ‘zigs’ back to the original lane. This is worse for some cars and particular lane changers. So my question… is there a known issue with using NSR standard guides (which are quite narrow) with Scalextric lane changers?

When I replace with Slot.it standard guides, that have been modified to sharpen the leading edge, the issues appear to go away.

These guides are significantly wider in the slot.

Is this known practice? (I ask innocently…)

Hi Ion Scaleauto rs200 the gearing was 9.27 with 20000rpm 285cm/g motor . The new version has 18000rpm 320cm/g motor. My build is 20000rpm 216cm/g Scan motor so I wondered if anybody can tell me what the difference between the 2 rs200's would be to drive. Thanks

Hi all,
I've decided to break my rule of only building one car at a time.
I want to keep my brain fresh and enthusiastic and not get bogged down on one build, I love building my Fiat and I haven't stopped.
Just want to keep the creative juice's flowing so I've started on this Airfix Ferrari 250LM.

I'd like to try and keep as much of the model as possible so I've decided to build a brass chassis inside.
I have a Racer Sideways BMW M4 white kit to make up and saw the floating chassis and am trying to make a brass sidewinder motor mount that floats similar to that.
I drew up a plan to the wheel base of the model and cut out the brass motor mount.

I thought it'd be easier to drill the axle hole before bending but I soon found out once I got the bushes in, I should of figured a way of drilling afterwards.
I eventually got them soldered in so the axle turns nice and freely, very good learning curve.

A little bit of fettling the motor mount screw holes and she fits nicely.

Next was a thinner brass plate to fix on to the plastic chassis and solder a guide tongue to that.

I found some brass inserts I've had for a long time and thought I could some how use these as the floating part which attaches the motor mount to the rest of the chassis.
They are a little too big so I've done some internet searching and the the smallest I could find which I'd like to use are unfortunately on AliExpress.
So I've bit the bullet and ordered them, they are cheap as anything but I personally would rather buy from the UK.
A Uk company I found wanted £70 compared to £3, yes you read that right. It's crazy Tappingfoot , I just hope I get what I think I'm getting Rofl

She's got a nice stance this lovely little car.

Well I've got a 9 day wait till the inserts hopefully arrive, need to figure out something else to crack on with until then.

Thanks for looking.
Tony

Hi

Another Toyota 2000GT built from an Aoshima kit, no where near the level of Leo's convertible but I'm happy with it.

Used a 3dp adjustable chassis with in line standard Scalextric motor, Slot-It plastic wheels with Toyota 88C inserts and Caterham tyres. Couldn't find a 3DP chassis for a front mount motor

Interior is a parts box lexan bit as I couldn't get the kit interior to fit with the inline motor.

Just ordered another Aoshima kit, this time for a Suzuki Jimny for a bargain £10.99 from japan2uk.com
