Hi Guys,
I was stunned to receive a Scalextric set when I was just 8 years old. My dear old Mum, bless her, spent a King's ransom on a second hand Scalextric set for my birthday.  It had a green BRM and a similar looking yellow car, rubber track and nasty clips to hold the track pieces together. Only my older brother had strong enough fingers to push the clips onto the rubber track and make it all work properly. The smell of the controllers and the was they slowly heated up until they could not be held any longer still lives on in my memory.

Much later in life my dear Wife Heart bought me the Mighty Metro set so that I could play with the kids. Then I discovered digital which is all that I every wanted my slot-cars to be.

All the best - Greg

A bit late to the party so it's all been said already really.

Nice clean fresh site devoid of ads and superfluous categories.  I like it Cool

Thanks for tipping me the wink. Look forward to seeing it fly  Thumbup

A slot racer/collector from the age of 10 or so. Home racer, joined up with friends to make bigger tracks. Started a club at school. Joined local 'wooden track' racers club doing the 'circuit' of inter-club championships in the Revell/Monogram/Riko years. Squeezed out by rising costs of Americana and Japanese 'Pro' kit.
(Schoolboy paper round/pocket money couldn't compete with working Dad's and lads.)

Reverted to home racing with Minic, then Aurora AFX, then Tomy AFX, branching out into the first HO UK club (CHORC), which ran for 28 years, hosting HO Nationals into the bargain. (However, we 'ceased trading' Dec 6th 2018.)

Seeing the writing on the wall, from Sept/Oct 2018 started collecting 1/32 SSD for solo home racing - but so far not had the time to do much with it.

So sort of gone full circle but hoping digital should make 1/32 home racing FUN! Brief testing was, anyway  Cool

Hi all, this is Track build No.3 for me, I started with a Scalextric track with scenery, then next came a routed track with elevation changes and scenery.
An unplanned house move saw me without a track (no room) for a 3 years, but another planned move gave me the opportunity for track 3 !
So Roughwood was born, with the intention of minimalist scenery and no elevations, but using a similar layout to the first Scalextric track I ever built, as I liked  that best although not the fact it was plastic ;)

Pictures speak a thousand words, so I'll let them get on with it.

This was the rough plan drawn up in an old version of Trackpower.

Am working on a resin body of a Renault Floride/Caravelle.  Wanted the convertible version so have removed the roof and decided on a pale yellow colour.  Biggest challenge is finding wheels which need to be quite small, but I want it to have white-wall tyres. Have fitted some from a static model which have 2mm axles so now looking for a crown gear with a 2mm hole. I think that a Carrera Go! axle might work.
There are a couple of Floride builds in the old-place so I have something to follow.

Hello all, Brian CMOTD invited me.  First impression is very good. Nice fresh modern appearance, totally different from SFi SCI, F1-Scratch etc.

I think I will like it here.

PS - huge thanks to all involved in this venture, "lang may your lum reek"
