Hello All
Loving the new forum, keep up the good work. Is there a way to identify / view unread posts? And, is there a way of clicking onto the first unread post in a subject from the list of posts? Sorry if I am using the wrong terminology.
Regards
Ian
Hi All,
May seem a silly question but I have purchased quite a few Carrera analogue cars recently and I would like to know if they are all made with the same motor?
My boys have different tastes so would be good if they did so they can race each other.
Now this will be interestin - the subject for the week is : POWER SUPPLIES
For track and otherwise. (I will get out my camera a little later to show mine.
PS - nothing to stop anyone to continue sharing on previous weeks subjects in their respective threads. Hope it will build databases in times to come
Hi Jason and Team
I have a challenge for you. In my haste to register I mistakenly used my old user name and I would like it changed to Racing Line. Can you oblige?
Thanks
Racing Line (or Racing Snake or Something)
Hey everyone,
[this is not meant to be advertising, I hope it's okay to post it here - it's my own project]
I'd like to present you SmartRace, which is a race control app for Carrera Digital 132/124. SmartRace is available for tablets and mobile phones running either iOS or Android and is available on both stores. It uses bluetooth to connect to your track, which needs to have the Carrera Control Unit aswell as the Carrera AppConnect bluetooth adapter.
Besides the obvious basics like time keeping and lap counting, SmartRace has some more interesting features (items marked with * are available as in-app purchasable add-ons):
Many Statistics - Save statistics for every race and qualifying - including all driven laps pit stops and leader changes.
Simple Assignment - Easy assignment of cars and drivers on a user friendly and clear screen.
Championships and Teams* - Battle your friends in championships (including the possibility to team up) and always keep an eye on the current standings. Read more.
For tablets and smart phones - Works on tablets and smart phones with iOS (iPad 3/iPhone 4s or newer) or Android 4.3+.
Multilingual - English, German, French, Dutch and Italian are already available - more will follow and everyone can contribute!
Damage simulation* - If a driver exceeds a defined lap time, a damage is simulated on their car - leading to retirement if it's no repaired. Read more.
Mirror to a TV - SmartRace can be mirrored to a tv or projector with Google ChromeCast, Apple AirPlay or FireTV.
Many Sounds - Have the real racing atmosphere in your room with sounds from VLN, Formula 1 and more. Important events like best laps and track records have sounds, too!
Track Database - Manage your own race tracks in SmartRace - with picture, minimum lap time and track records.
Community-centered - Everyone can hand in ideas for SmartRace - more than 100 have already been realized!
Race with up to 6 drivers - Detailed timing information for all drivers - clear and readable (of course also depending on the size of your device).
Voice Output - Fastest laps, records, empty fuel tank, last lap - SmartRace will let you know (and call you by name)!
Database for cars and drivers - Save your cars and drivers in your own database - including images and personal statistics.
Different modes - Free practice, qualifying or race - either time or lap based. You decide!
Social Sharing - Share your race results and track records with your friends using Twitter, Facebook and others.
Track records - Challenge yourself by beating your own records, which are saved per track.
Weather Simulation* - Let it rain on your track - not literally, but simulated. The speed decreases if the track is wet and all drivers have to change tires! Read more.
Penalties* - Drivers can be punished with time penalties or lap subtraction if they cause a race interruption (e.g. by jump starting, pushing other drivers, etc.). Read more.
If you would like to learn more about the app, just head over to www.smartrace.de/en
This is how the app looks like:
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Marc
Hey guys, thanks for having me!
My name is Marc, I'm 34 years old, I live in Germany with the worlds best wife and our two kids and I stumbled into slot racing about 4 years ago. I visited a friend of mine and he had a Carrera circuit set up in his small office (which was a mess) and it was great fun. I always dreamt of having a nice track myself when I was younger, so I took the opportunity and invested a lot of time and a lot of money into my own Carrera Digital track. I started with 1:32, no I'm mainly racing 1:24. This is my track: https://www.smartrace.de/carrera-strecken/5089-2/
When I race, I mostly do it together with my younger brother and some of our mutual friends. Most of the time we're racing 1:24 GT3, but sometimes we race 1:32 F1 (most recent models).
What convinced me to go with Carrera Digital was the Carrera bluetooth app which was quite new at that time. But when I first tried out the app, I was heavily disappointed because it was really not what I expected. It had a lot of issues and lacked a lot of features (which I assumed to be basic), which is why I eventually decided to create my own app. I never intended to publish or sell it, but in the end it worked out pretty well and now the app has been on the market for about 3 years. It's called SmartRace and you can take a look at www.smartrace.de/en if you like to.
Marc
I have been watching motorsport for more years than I care to admit and have many memories from races I have attended, not just the actual racing but the things that went on around it.
I can share a few of them here but what are yours?
First off - my one and only visit to the Monaco GP in 1987. It was an expensive trip even then, which we were unlikely to repeat, so we were determined to do the job properly and booked the full works; posh apartment in Nice and race seats in the garden of the Hotel Mirabeau, situated just before the tunnel, with a five course lunch thrown in before qualifying and the race.
On the Sunday, having drunk the first free bottle of a very good red wine we chatted up the waiter and worked our way through a second, followed by a third to consume during the race. There was also a pay bar and a visit to that produced the following exchange with a man in the queue who had just paid £8 for a small gin and tonic: " I bet that is the most expensive G&T you have ever bought."
"No, I was in the TipTop bar last night and it was £10!" This was 1987 remember and the price in an English pub was about £1.
About 3/4 of the way through the race my good lady needed to visit the facilities and descended the steep steps from our seats, never to return. After the race I went looking for her and found her in the bar, apparently she had been unable to reascend the steps because she was more than a teensy bit inebriated and had watched the rest of the race on the TV!
So there you have it - a trip to the Monaco GP costing more than £1000 and she watched it on the telly! Great weekend though and a tale to embarrass her with for many years after.
Anybody else like to chip in with their memories? Not the racing, but the stories related to it.
