This kit for me is beyond superlatives.
It is the first George Turner Kit I bought, and I think I was one of the first - certainly the first to put one up on SFI. The kit is incredibly simple yet overwhelmingly detailed. I do not know of another constructor that produces kits of this quality, simplicity and detail.
Picture roll through my build.
For some reason - this car is very very seldom made. Back in 99/00 - I found John Bacons body supply in Oz. There were drawbacks -principle being you order, pay and the get the bodies at some point in time. On average for me that was 11 months.
I thought about it, and ordered over 3 months, 3 orders of 10 bodies each. In Hindsight I am so pleased I did that, because although the quality is nowhere near the current resin builders of today, he had some cars that are still not available (either cheaply or in any quantity) today. I think of Ferrari 612, Chappy 2G, Chappy 2J, BRM Can Am, Ford J - long nose version, a Superb Alfa 33, Chappy 2A, 2A with Fins, 2C, 2C with Fins. Ferrari 512M and so on (Refer the video's of his cars and track in this thread) Joh Bacons Track and cars,
This is his 2G that after 18 years I have got around to building. Wing works based on the Phil S method, of being loose and then moving flat on acceleration and down on braking.
F1 Cars: Repairing, Removing Wheels & Other Parts (thought I would make it easier and place this in its Genre from the start).
My question: How do you remove the front axle on the F1 cars so that I can true the front tyres?
I ask as after running many laps on the Scalextric C3955 F1 C3955 - F1 Williams FW40 - Felipe Massa #19 car (image below) I see the front tyres are running on the outside edges with the centre untouched, like a U.
Obviously the tyres need truing but I can't see how to remove the axle, it appears to be plastic welded in.
Thanks
Johnno
I am going to sidetrack a little from the suggestions list, but in light of the increasing content suggestion in the increasing the Forum thread, I thought that as we will all start to post our older builds, it would be nice to have a thread of what we are doing at the moment.......
SO - lets see your current builds, upgrades for racing, kitbashing of just generally what is on your bench.
