Can anyone tell me if these are grippier or just better made over "old" ultra's on wood tracks ?
I notice that a lot of them specify "not for use on air hubs" this seems a backward step, unless of course they can match air hubbed old ultra's on a solid wheel.
Does any one have any experience with them on wood tracks and can comment on any of my points ?
Saturday May 16 2020 sees the start of the 2nd 1/43 Little Monte Carlo Rally Proxy.
The proxy will be run on my 'Little Monte' 1/43 routed MDF, with copper tape, slot rally track in Norwich UK.
I had intended to run this one in September this year, but have too much going on personally around that time and, as we need good weather to run the event in my shed, later in the year may not be practical.
I will post the rules soon, but they will be similar to last year's event except for a tightening up on wheel standards and body mods in the scratchbuilt class.
In the last event, class 1 and class 2 became a little confusing at times so, for the 2020 1/43 Little Monte Carlo Rally proxy the classes will just be called Standard RTR and Scratchbuilt.
More details, and rules, to follow soon.
Regards, Lloyd
The Prologue for the 2019-20 World Endurance Championship season took place this week in Barcelona, with the 4 hours of Silverstone following soon on Sunday 1 September. The four classes - LMP1, LMP2, GTE Pro and GTE Am - always provide plenty of interest, despite the lack of major manufacturer involvement in the top class over the past couple of years.
This season, there are just six entries in LMP1, but I think it's going to be an interesting battle as the FIA have introduced Equivalence of Technology (EoT) regulations to give the non-Hybrid cars some advantages in terms of weight, fuel tank capacity and refueling time. There will also be a further success handicap calculated after each race. A specific EoT will be used for the Le Mans 24 hours next June.
Along with two Toyota TS050 Hybrids, LMP1 will feature a pair of Rebellion R13s and a works Team LNT entry for two Ginetta G60-LT-P1 cars. After the fiasco of last season - when the Chinese CEFC Manor Racing team entered two cars, withdrew from the first round, were well off the pace at Le Mans and then simply gave up - it is great to see Ginetta back. The two cars will be powered by AER 2.4 litre turbo engines, ditching the Mecachrome unit that was used last year. Testing looked promising, but the prologue last week would give a better indication of the Ginetta's pace...
At the end of two days in Barcelona, the six LMP1 cars were separated by just over a second - all setting their fasted time in the fourth and final session. The #6 Ginetta was fourth overall, posting a best lap of 1:29.697 in the hands of F2 star Luca Ghiotto - just 0.556 of a second behind the leading Toyota's time. The #5 car was sixth with a 1:30.239 set by Ginetta test driver Charlie Robertson. A very encouraging performance, especially up against the top two teams of last season.
#7 Toyota Gazoo Racing 1:29.141
#8 Toyota Gazoo Racing 1:29.187
#1 Rebellion Racing 1:29.408
#6 Team LNT Ginetta 1:29.697
#2 Rebellion Racing 1:29.807
#5 Team LNT Ginetta 1:30.239
I shall certainly be cheering on the Ginetta team this season, especially as Scalextric have teamed up with Ginetta to produce the G60-LT-P1 in 1/32 scale. Models of the two 2018 Le Mans cars and two fantasy Ginetta test liveries are being released this summer - two individually and two in the Le Mans 24h ARC Pro digital set. Fingers-crossed the 2019-20 cars will be in the catalogue for 2020.
There will be news of the Ginetta challenge on the WEC website and the Ginetta Cars website.
Has anyone seen or heard any updates from Falcon Slot Cars?
There was a new 924 due quite a while ago but I've not seen any updates on their facebook page this year and now their webpage is unrepsonsive?
So here we go, a great example of a forum admin. locking a thread that was having a decent conversation about power bases. After reading the entire thread, I have not seen any bad behaviour, swearing, bullying etc., yet the thread has been locked..
What has happened to our freedom and free speech? I do think this type of moderation will never be implemented on these forums.
I post the link to the thread on another forum that has been locked as evidence of over moderation and basically removal of free speech. I hope this type of moderation does not become a go-to on these forums.
It is sad to see this behaviour nowadays, we are all here to advance this hobby and industry yet we have some people (generalised term, not anyone specific) who are willing to kill it, for what? their own inflated egos? Can't tolerate being wrong? Have closed minds to others thoughts and responses?
Which powerbase C7042 APB or C8435 ARC PRO?
It's always great to see a new slot racing forum on the internet. I have a permanent Scalextric/SCX slot track in my basement that I call Overlook Raceway Park. I'm looking forward to learning a lot from all the other members on this forum and I plan to share some of my ideas and photos as well. Here are a couple of photos that show an overview of Overlook Raceway Park:
Looking forward to learning a lot more about slot car racing.
I saw the great thread about 'oil drum litter bins' and that inspired me to add a couple dumpsters and trash barrels to my slot track.
The barrels are made from old pens that I cut up into 1/32 scale barrel size pieces and then wrapped them with a couple of wire loops and painted them blue. I added a trash bag made from the very thin orange plastic bags that come with our morning newspaper and threw in some scale trash.
I found some photos of dumpsters on our trash collector website (Good's Disposal) and made little replicas using bits and pieces of wood and plastic. I painted them green and then dirtied them up with paint and grime. The lids are made of bits of plastic and are hinged so you can throw in more trash and empty out what's in there when it gets full.
Here are some photos:
The trash barrels and dumpsters are already helping to clean up Overlook Raceway Park. Thanks for the great ideas from SlotRacer Online!
Blimey... it seems like just yesterday that Slot Car Mag was launched, but it must be something like 100 months ago as the fiftieth issue is now available from Pendles and as an ebook from Lulu.
