If you need a start gantry/advertising hoarding then you could pay £28 plus £5 postage for one of these.
Or, if you are a cheapskate like me then you could make your own for a fraction of the cost using these model railway items:
LINK to eBay seller. They come in various sizes, I used the 300mm long ones which are 35mm wide.
With a bit of glue, paint and plasticard I made this for my track at a total cost of £9 including postage:
I bought these from Dopamine on SF, with plans to convert to nascar trucks, but have decided against the project now.
I am asking what I paid, as I haven't actually done anything other than measure them up and I think it was a very fair price.
It looks like they have had no running at all, the trucks look effectively new, but Dopamine did say they may have done some test laps.
Includes the boxes and bases.
I am asking £70 including Postage to the UK for the pair.
I also have 2x 3DP chassis designed to fit these trucks and turn them into standard pick ups with a long can in anglewinder configuration.
I am asking £18 including UK postage for this pair which includes all you see in the picture.
This listing (no affiliation) shows how they look fitted to the pro trucks Ninco pro truck chassis | eBay
Postage outside the UK will need to be calculated.
PM me if you have any questions or require more info. :)
Slot.it CA45b Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI #18 Martini - ITC Mugello 1996 - Gabriele Tarquini. RRP £64.95. Available now
The Slot.it Alfa 155s are great cars, but this livery is utterly sensational. This isn't a works Alfa Corse Martini car - those were white in 1996 - but a private entry by newcomers JAS Motorsport. JAS would soon become touring car and rally legends with a long line of Honda Civics. Of course, red Martini liveries had graced Italian cars in the past - most notably the WRC Lancia Delta Integrales - and it is a very pleasing combination. Like the recent Alfa 33/3 historic racer, this Slot.it livery sends shivers down my spine with the depth and glow of that red and the deep shine of the finish...
The Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI needs little introduction - it was a car that muscled into the DTM/ITC arena in the mid-90s and took on the German manufacturers. Nicola Larini was the star man, winning the 1993 DTM title and notching up 17 DTM/ITC victories with the 155 V6 Ti. Slot.it have already released a collector's edition model of Larini's 1993 championship-winning car, plus his Martini-sponsored car from 1995. But this one is all about Gabriele Tarquini - a touring car legend in his own right...
Tarquini had won the 1994 British Touring Car Championship with the Alfa 155 GTA and was hired by JAS Motorsport for their first season of racing. With works support, they entered four cars into the ITC (as the DTM was branded that year). Two of the cars - for Tarquini and Stefano Modena - wore the red Martini livery, with the third car in orange Jägermeiſter colours and the fourth in a white Bosch-sponsored scheme. The Bosch car - driven by Jason Watt at Silverstone - is also available as a Slot.it model. Over their debut season, JAS finished on the podium seven times, with Tarquini taking victory in Race Two at Silverstone.
For Alfa's home round at Mugello, Tarquini qualified sixth - best of the JAS drivers - but could only manage thirteenth place in Race One. He bounced back to finish sixth in Race Two - the only JAS driver to score points that weekend. This is a photo of Tarquini's car from Mugello 1996...
The other picture is of the car in the hands of its subsequent owner, Marco Gramenzi - who built on the car's fame in Italy with hundreds of appearances and victories in 'cronoscalata' or time-trials and hill-climbs...
This isn't the only ex-DTM Alfa 155 to find a second career in hill climbs and time trials. And it wouldn't take much to update the new Slot.it model to Gramenzi's car.
Inside is the usual Slot.it Classic DTM layout with the 21k inline S-Can motor, 9:28 gearing and aluminium rear hubs. The new cabling allows easy conversion to digital. Of course, slot racers using their heads will probably choose a Calibra or Skyline for club racing - but Alfisti usually go with their hearts and this is a livery that just shouts "buy me!"
This ravishing red Martini Alfa 155 V6 Ti is available now from all your usual Slot retailers.
NSR 0205 Porsche 908/3 #1 1971 Nürburgring 1000Km - Jo Siffert / Pedro Rodriguez. RRP £87.95. Available October 2021.
I have to admit to being a fan of these NSR 908/3 classic sports cars. Yes, I know they are out of scale and not the prettiest cars ever, but they are wonderfully functional thoroughbred racers - just like the original cars. I particularly like them when they have an authentic livery, as this one does - the JW Automotive car that finished runner-up to the works Martini Racing 908/3 driven by Vic Elford and Gérard Larrousse. The winning car has already been released in a Martini twin-pack by NSR, so this one completes the 1971 Nürburgring podium. The combination of Siffert and Rodriguez - two of the bravest drivers of their era - is also a sombre reflection on an extremely dangerous time in motorsport. Neither would see the end of 1971.
The NSR Gulf livery is a nice representation of the car, with Jo Siffert driving...
'Seppi' won the 1970 Targa Florio in a John Wyer 908/3 and both the Spa and Österreichring 1000Km races in the bigger 917k. He'd started 1971 with a win in Buenos Aires and was enjoying an excellent Formula One season with the new Yardley BRM P160 - winning in Austria and finishing second at Watkins Glen. Shortly after - at the end of October - Siffert lost his life in tragic circumstances, during a non-championship F1 race at Brands Hatch. His death led to major changes in car and circuit safety. Seppi was trapped in his burning BRM for five minutes - marshals were unable to reach him due to faulty fire extinguishers. He should have been out in 20 seconds - and would have survived with no more than a broken leg. Siffert's funeral was attended by 50,000 mourners - the hearse led by a John Wyer Gulf Porsche 917k...
Siffert's team mate in their 908/3 at the Nürburgring died a few months earlier, during a Can-Am Interserie race at the Norisring. It really was a brutal time for the sport. The release of the NSR Porsche 908/3 will coincide with the 50th anniversary of that tragic day at Brands - a fine tribute to a talented and popular driver...
As in all the 908/3 models, it's the usual NSR 'Classic' set-up with the slightly angled sidewinder Shark Evo 21.5k motor...
Light, fast and nimble - a perfect classic racer.
The Jo Siffert / Pedro Rodriguez Porsche 908/3 is scheduled for release by the end of October. It is available for pre-order now from all your favourite NSR stockists.
It's the rather special Mull Rally today and tomorrow - part of the British Rally Championship. There's already been plenty of build-up on the Mull Rally Facebook page - and there will be the following live coverage...
Not quite the same as being there though...
Or competing...

Hello everyone,
My name is John MacKenzie, and my racing name was Iceman.
I started racing slotcars in 1960, when I received a Scalextric set for Christmas.
My dad eventually built a four lane elevated track, and we would race together.
My dad's buddy built a four lane wood track and we would race together.
I started racing slot cars again in 1998, and I thought it would be fun to start a club, since a number of us were building tracks at home, and two or three hobby stores had tracks in their stores.
So, PSSRA was born, Puget Sound Scale Racing Association. We developed race classes, went to our friends tracks, and I went to talk to the hobby stores, and they were kind enough to open up on Wed nights, 6pm to 9pm, so we could race on their tracks, and the stores did not even charge us money to race on their tracks.
I got out of the hobby after a good friend/slotracer passed away. Sold all my track, gave my timing system ( Slotmaster, from England ) to someone who was going to build his own track, and sold most of my 800 plus cars.
I would make my own decals, paint my slot car bodies, and create my own livery to race.
Great fun.
I am thinking about getting back to racing again.
Since Covid, I have followed a Slot car chat, and has got me interested.
Seems very competitive though.
tuning the cars, using a tire truer, gluing the tires, and racing.
When I started in 1998, we really did not have these tools, so we kept things box stock, and it was the driving that won you the race.
I can see that the tuning would be fun, and I may get into that.
I miss the friendship of my buddies, and the door to door racing.
I was born and lived in Vancouver, BC Canada, then moved to Snohomish, Washington, USA where PPSRA was formed.
I retired in July, 2020, and have moved to Goodyear, Arizona, USA.
Thanks,
Iceman
So I bought a couple of cars a while ago ...... for the motors actually - this one is a Russkit 36d that has been worked over by Dyna- Rewind - kind of holy grail of the 60's motors.
But I like the stance of this car. And the look. But cannot identify it :(
Gonna rework it and set it up maybe for Bordo 2022.
Social media went down yesterday. Face book lost 5% on their share price and Zuckerberg is a billion $ poorer.... for today anyway.
Other than that I really didnt miss it, and surely it is a directive to hold our info, pictures and interactions for our hobby on a more secure base like the forum? I am sure that for clubs this would be the case.?
The counter is - I am sure we will get no increased traffic because of this....
What do you guys think??
All
This released by Maurizio on small adjustments needed for the new Nissan GTR as sold in the USA.
I have a 1:24 scale carrera evolution track and 1:32 scale cars. One slot works perfectly, the other isn’t delivering power to the cars. This is independent of the car I use. All the cars work perfect on one side and will stop and slow and then gain full power intermittently on the other slot. Any thoughts would be most helpful
