Everything used to be based in my loft, but age is not on my side. So after years of having to climb up there, suffering brutal heat and cold, the good lady wife finally allowed me to build a shed at the end of the garden.
The track is not as big as the loft version, but I enjoy it so much more now. It's about 50 foot, 4-lane Ninco. If George Turner had announced his MDF custom routed track pieces about a year earlier, I would have been tempted to do a three-lane track. But no matter... it keeps me out of mischief :-)

Well... now I've got to spend loads of money upgrading all my old FLY Classics.
Part two of the 1:43 scale clear-out is an ultimate SCX Compact NASCAR package…
Many 1:43 fans consider SCX compact as a better system for enthusiasts than Carrera Go. The cars are less stuck down, have traditional guide flags and respond well to being converted to non-mag running. The track is more robust and has a rougher surface (like SCX classic) which also aids non-mag cars. It’s also easier to upgrade power and controllers, if need be. Compact has been difficult to find in the UK, although new SCX distributor Gaugemaster does support Compact.
Carrera Go!!! and the WRC rally cars work nicely on SCX Compact track (particularly non-mag) as do scratch-builds and older cars like the lovely Jouef models.
First, there is a brand new - still with its inner polythene seal - NASCAR Tri-Oval Superspeedway set. The layout is 15.9 feet long and takes up a space of 3.6 x 6.4 ft. There are wide-radius banked curves, lap counter and crossovers (I have brand new straights to replace those, if needed). It has a UK power supply. For NASCAR buffs, the cars are pre-COT Ford Fusions of Matt Kenseth and Greg Biffle.
The box is pristine. This would make an awesome present.
Price: £50 + postage at cost.
Now a load of cars to go with the set…
These three pairs are all sealed in their packets. We have a pair of COT Chevy Impalas (#29 Kevin Harvick + #88 Dale Junior blue National Guard version), a Chevy & Ford COT twin pack (#99 Carl Edwards + #88 Dale Junior green Amp version) and two pre-COT Fusions (#99 Carl Edwards + #17 Matt Kenseth). Price: £20 for each packet + postage at cost
These have been opened for a photoshoot, but are unused. We have two more Chevy COT Impalas (#31 Jeff Burton + #88 Dale Junior National Guard blue version) plus a very rare Toyota (Joey Logano) vs the #29 Chevy of Kevin Harvick… That was quite a rivalry!
Price: £20 per pair + postage at cost.
Finally, some lightly used, unboxed cars…
This includes a rare Greg Biffle COT Fusion, plus four pre-COT Fusions - Biffle, Kenseth (x2) and Edwards. One of the #17 DeWalt cars has had the magnet removed and K&D urethane tyres fitted.
Price: £20 the lot + shipping at cost.
For anyone prepared to buy the whole lot at discount price of £150 + postage at cost, I will throw in some extras including five pairs of K&D urethanes for SCX Compact NASCARs and three sheets of Pattos Place decals (Taco Bell #34 and Target #42 for the COT Chevy and #7 Motorola for the pre-COT Fusion). Some nice project potential there.
There’s still a SCX Compact MotoGP set to come, plus four DTM cars and some unpainted Porsche 911 GT3s. The only SCX Compact cars I’m keeping are a pair of ‘Cudas.

First part of a 1:43 scale clear out, starting with Carrera Go!!!
We’ll start with a Carrera Go+ powerbase that connects to the Carrera Go app or the more ‘grown-up’ SmartRace for Carrera Go app (both Android & iOS) to give lap timing and various in-app games. Great fun and definitely on a par with Scalextric’s ARC stuff.
Also included is the Go+ Pit-Stop Game that interacts with Go+ to give an even more interactive experience. These have had minimal use and have been very well looked after. Never available in the UK (to my knowledge), these were imported from Germany. Instructions are multi-lingual, including English - and there’s a Carrera UK power supply and two Go+ controllers.
Price £25 + postage at cost.
Next, a very tasty Cars3 ‘Fast Friends’ set with two extra Cars characters…
This is a 5-metre long layout that fits a space of 212 x 98 cm - a great size. It is complete with all the manuals, fliers, stickers, accessories etc, including a UK power supply. Like all of the Go!!! sets, it looks awesome and runs very reliably. The set and cars have had minimal use - the p/s and controllers are unused.
In addition to Lightning McQueen and Dinoco Cruz from Cars3, there’s also Francesco Bernoulli from the second film and the legend that is The King.
Price: £35 + postage at cost.
Finally, you can add a sealed-in-packet Chick Hicks to the gang. £15 is a lot less than he thinks he’s worth…
The whole lot would make a sensational set for some family Christmas fun and a perfectly-sized for a youngster’s bedroom. £75 + postage at cost (around £10 couriered in the UK).
BTW, Pendles sell the Carrera Go cars, including a decent range of modern F1 cars - Ferrari, Red Bull, Alpine and Mercedes.
I will also be listing a couple of 1:43 scale SCX Compact sets, plus some new-in-packet and some used SCX Compact NASCAR & DTM cars.

Avant Slot have unveiled their 2023 plans at Foroslot this weekend. There are some exciting new cars and liveries...
There are new liveries for the Alpine A310, Opel Manta, BMW 635CSi, BMW 2002i and Ferrari 308 GTB - plus brand new tooling for a Nissan 240RS, Mitsubishi Galant VR4 and a Kamaz Dakar truck.
In a return to Avant Slot's excellent Le Mans Prototype range of the late 2000s, six new Le Mans Hypercar and LMDh models are coming very soon. Rather like their service vans, the bodies will be made from ABS resin, with plastic chassis underneath. This allows faster turnaround than injection moulded bodies. If the plan is to use the previous LMP chassis, then there are already race-proven 3D printed options available from Olifer and others. If a new generic chassis is in the pipeline, I'd expect Olifer to get their version in production very soon.
The highlight for me - apart from the LMH / LMDh cars - has to be the Jimmy McRae Manta. It's about time!

PART 2 The final Revoslot Endurance Challenge ..”battle of the Merseysider” or Who can eat the most cake?
The final outcomes of the race and the Battle of the Merseysiders BOM .
Most important part of the event was and is, the social aspect were members of both clubs had a chance to mingle and chat ( not forgetting the cake eating part too ) .
Everyone appeared to enjoy the evening although with all events there are a few learning points for the organisers ( me in particular here) where improvements for next year can be applied. I appreciate some teams had car problems and some had ? rockets to contain, my own opinion is I enjoyed the 15 min endurance team configuration and I obviously have a liking for the Revoslot cars, which do just get quicker with the more running you give them.
So the race itself was as follows .
Two Scousers … Senior Service … oops sorry Ted Ted Martin and Phil Hayes Finish 1 Trophy Winners .??
Los Toros. Finish 2 Paul Cooper and Luis Eduardo Pez
Day Trippers them Beatle loving pair. Finish 3 Pete Crane and Mike Broadbent.
Guys gorillas ( sorry for the name! just remember select a name yourself or the admin will appoint one in your honour ) finish 4 Mike Guy and Phil Clayton
Pot Luck finish 5 Peter Wright and Kev Lea
TRUSPEED finish 6 ( note a long pit stop reducing their pace and lap accumulation. Steve Hills and again Kev Lea.
WSR finish 7 Learning a new track which brought difficulties “possible sat nav malfunction”. You were dam quick on the south side of the Mersey. Paul Taylor and John Dodds.
PG TIPPS finish 8 Again, car issues spoilt their race ..commiserations ..rebuild for next year . Paul Minnis and Geoff Taylor
So we’ll done to the Ted and Phil combo the winning margin was just over half a lap.. seems you got Los Toros on the green lane pace . Dam you ?
So on to the BOM Championship where only the teams completing on both tracks could score ..
Final Points
Pot Luck 29
Los Toros 27
2Scousers 26
Day Trippers 21 better total laps
WSR 21
PG Tips 6
Where teams scored equal points the total amounts of laps then became the deciding factor.
So a big cheer for Peter and Kev on their victory .
The interesting aspect was the strengths of teams on their home tracks along with their ability to find the pace on the away track which became the key to performance and hence Points.
Overall the event was a success in achieving a great event along with exciting races. The Main Objective was to deliver a social interaction between clubs and a opportunity for members to experience a different track and the two do present challenges. Not forgetting to have FUN along with competition.
A BIG THANK YOU to Steve Hill of TRUSPEED for the event prizes of metal car carrying cases for the first and second teams.
Paul Taylor of WSR for. 3D chassis vouchers for all podium finishers. ( for those who have not tried one of Paul’s chassis you should give it a go .. I like scaly touring cars up grades the best.
To Nick from PENDLE for the donation of a white kit . Revoslot.
To my company for the purchase of the Merseyside Shield which will display the annual winners for the next 7 years.
Pete Wright for his admin help and support , Paul Taylor for IT support along with Mike Guy and Phil Clayton for the results and data. Pete Crane and Ted Edwards for supplies and track cleaning. All the teams who participated.
So we have the making of an Annual Event with all wanting to take the prize for next year.
