After taking a year off, the GT3 Proxy, run across various wood tracks in North America, has come round again. Entries closed in August, and along with myself, both OXO Cube and AdeC from here have also entered. Not forgetting that this is a home proxy for a couple of overseas entrants to the various proxies that Graham runs on here!
First hurdle is to get your car safely to Rob in Kelowa, British Columbia, before the end of October. I posted mine a week or so ago and according to tracking information, it is getting close to it's final destination.
Second hurdle is to get through the pre-qualfying event that they have had to introduce to whittle the entries down to a more manageable number. I failed at this hurdle last time, but OXO Cube got through the selection and got to play with the big boys for the following six months or so.
This time round I have two more years experience of car preparation to call upon, and rather than just put a car together based on gut instinct like I did last time, I got the car built in the Spring and spend a bit of time over the Summer fettling it into what I hope will be a worthy entry that offers some sort of competition to all the other entries.
So here it is, a Race Sideways BMW M6 on it's final outing at Molesey Slot Car Club, where their Monday evening practice sessions offered me the opportunity to run it on a track similar in type to those it may encounter over the pond.
Fingers crossed that it has a good showing at the pre-qualfying, alongside the cars from OC and AdeC!

GT3 Proxy Shoot Out!
Can anyone recommend a UK source of alternative 'racing rubber' rear tyres for the Pioneer Dodge Charger please? Not silicone or urethane. Slot.it or NSR style rubber if such tyres exist, thanks.
Hello lets try again. New here a little about myself. Petrol head two and four wheels very competitive. Raced at Donington park, cadweel park, Croft, Rufforth, Oulton park, Aintree and some others also Rallied, Autocross and Grasstrack good wife, lucky eh. Had scalextric for ages not used into saloons rather than single seaters. Hopefully enough info to prove I’m not a bot.
Now down to memery testing, does anyone remember the scalextric world championships in trinadad??? Some towns and cities in uk held qualifiers (money for entry went to charity) for entry into WC held in tower hotel london were the winner would win a black 1275 GT mini and entrance into WC. Never heard anything after London qualifier. Any info anybody.

i have Parma controllers on my home track
and a DS controller for club track
but since Pendle club closure , i have no use for the DS controller unless i travel , which due to work commitments is not really possible
my problem is .... the club track was -( negative) polarity , and my home track is +(positive)
a problem i didnt realise i had , until i tried the DS on my home track
my question ..... is there a way i can easily rewire my track / Parma controllers / DS controller so that they would all work on my home track , and the direction of track travel would remain the same ( this point is most important ) ?
i tried swapping wires etc , but quickly became confused , so returned everything to original and just continued with the Parma's , but the option to use the DS would be great if possible
i am reluctant to mess with the DS , but the Parma's and track wiring are more to my 'tin pot' electrical standard
any help is appreciated
Kev

Hi
Just wanting to put some feelers out regarding a new initiative I am in the process of developing.
At the moment I have to travel to get to a slot car club so I have a premises to rent out and have access to a half decent rally track. This is a small premise pavilion in build but big enough to set up a good size rally track. The building is being refurbished and should be ready for November time.
My plan is to host a rally night on a Monday at least once a month, just to gauge the appetite for the hobby and with the mindset of recruiting members from around the area to the delights of slot car racing.
The club will be held in the village if Tilson , near Whitchurch and Holt Cheshire Shropshire Welch border.
I am hopeful with a little advertising and community engagement I can make this a feature and expand to a racing club in the area.
If anyone in the forum is interested could they respond or PM me for further details.
Thanks for reading

From idea to execution took just days and it's still going now: Slot Forum was created by a dispersed bunch of Europeans who'd never met, but who wanted an on-line home, close to home, for their shared hobby : Scalextric and slot cars.
Reuniting some key players for the first time in several years, this special episode brings recollections and reminiscences of how it started and what Slot Forum was like in the early years.
*Strictly speaking it was in September, but I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to use a Beatles lyric.
The WHO Birkett Relay is an opportunity to run a bunch of our favourite WHO/digital classes in a four-hour team race. It borrows a lot from the real Birkett event - a quirky, but quite magnificent format that has run since 1951. The race currently runs at Silverstone each year, organised by the 750 Motor Club.
The basic idea of the relay is that each team runs several cars during the event - a handicap system meaning a vast array of cars appear on the track at the same time and no-one quite knows who has won until after the chequered flag has fallen.
Our WHO version of the Birkett relay will simplify things a bit - at least for the first year. Over four hours, each team will race one car from four different WHO classes - a mix that can change each year.
To ensure the race gets off to a good start in 2023 - and to adjust to a few of our car-owners being otherwise engaged next week - we have made a decision to run four all-time WHO/digital favourites in the relay...
All the class regs can be found in our 2023 WHO/digital Guide pdf available here: http://www.whoracing.org.uk/who_digital.html
Doors will open at 10am for practice, with two Goodwood classes - the TT Celebration and Sussex Trophy - running in short-format races from 10.30 to 11.30am so everyone gets a chance to warm-up for the big event. A second practice session runs up to midday, when the first hour of the inaugural Birkett Relay will start.
Our six teams won't be based on driver rankings - we've encouraged anyone who wants to form a team to do so. There will be some loaning of cars across teams - and nothing in the rules to say that the same car can't be run by different teams in different hours. The only cars that must run together are the Slot.it Group Cs, which will make up hour two.
Each leg of the relay will be set up as a 58-minute race in RCS64, allowing for a two-minute change of teams' cars - the new car starting from the piece of track the last car finished. Each hour is split into three 20 minute stints, with drivers able to double or triple stint if they want to. However, the total of twelve stints must be equally divided between each team's drivers.
Simon is working on a 1:32 scale Silverstone layout for Saturday - a track plan will be posted when it's ready.
