Simple Slot Car Track Pit Caddy

For your oils and tools at the trackside.

https://www.printables.com/model/616070-...-pit-caddy

Just a simple track side slot car “pit caddy” to make it easier to carry, and access, important oils and tools at the trackside while practicing and racing.

This first version has four 32mm holes, great for small bottles of lubricant or braid juice, or tire cleaner, as well as a large 70mm hole for a lint roller or larger bottle of some kind (or a 12oz aluminium can of something, if you're so bold). There is also a thin slot at the front for lane sticker sheets (indicated by the card in the photos).

The clips/hangers are removable, and slot into the back of the caddy from below. This allows the hanger(s) to be easily replaced or adjusted without having to re-print the entire caddy. If you race at tracks with different size walls to hang on, you might want to use a different hanger, so you can pack whichever one(s) you'll need. Print as many as you need, or stretch it out to the full length of the slot (100mm) for extra strength. Hangers are provided for 3/4" and 1/2" walls. Other options can be easily modeled by request.

I'm open to suggestions for improvements or changes without making it too much larger. Honestly, this is such a simple model, that if you have a 3d printer and have not already started learning how to model your own projects, it's a great one to start with. Figure out what you want at the track, measure things, and start the process. Designing and printing your own ideas is one of the most fulfilling aspects of the 3D printing hobby.

I am not selling these. I provide the model for you to print your own, or ask a friend. There are plenty of other people out there selling prints of similar pit caddies and are not hard to find on slot car related sites and FB groups. Use your favorite search engine to find one.

It has been 25 years since Dale won the Daytona 500. Been there and saw
my first race in person in Daytona. As a homage I wanted to built a Monte
Carlo as raced in Daytona which I wanted to built as a Slotcar (I usually
built detailed kits for display only but not this time) to race on Carrera tracks.
The plan was to get this done this year, so i collected all the tracks
to build a small Daytona Track and get the car to race. I used one of those
kits that came in a tin from Revell. Sure enough when I was ready to apply
the decals, they fell apart. So I had to get a new set of decals. I also got in
contact with a stencil seller to have tire letter stencils made for it. The car
sits on a Sakatsu chassis, Revell Kit, Driver figure comes from the
Monogram Lumina kit.  Raced it a few weeks ago and it was pure fun. Pure
 memories.

If you are in the same boat like me, than here is a solution.
I struggle with the tire decals as they don't have that real feeling to me.
Aside from that they hardly stay on. Recently built a Nascar #3 slotcar
that I had applied the kit supplied decals to the tires. They would not stay
on, fell apart, cause they were old and applying  a flat clear really destroyed
the look. So I came across a seller of stencils who was doing the old white
style letter Tire stencils. Decided to ask him if he could produce stencils that
have those lines running through the letters. So we exchanged some
thoughts and he agreed to get a stencil done. Just arrived and I painted the
tires and it looks lightyears better than the decals. These stencils will go into
mass production available for everybody. So if you like the look, here is
another and I think better option than decals. I used Tamyia XF3 and XF2 to
mix the yellow. I used a full glass of XF3 and added 85-90% XF2 to come
up with the color.
No more issues with decals coming off, replacing tires and no decals at hand.
Just clean the tires and repaint as needed. As often as needed. Nail
the painted look of the real deal.

I worked out how to mess around testing digital and analogue cars without swaping the control section all the time! I suppose many people might have realised this before me though.

Also want to show off my new Mercedes 300 SEL...

Brown slot cars aren't as rare as you think, if indeed you ever think about such things at all. We do.

We're also wondering if the driver of the new Scalextric Lotus Esprit is carrying a few extra grams?

Looking for a quest?  Try finding John Lennon's old Mini, just watch out for the rival gangs of Mini and Beatles fans also on its trail. If there's ever another Indiana Jones movie...

Meanwhile, Nick's started a Miami Vice themed slot car collection.  Cue the synth music.

Good evening everyone  Wavegreen

If anyone is looking to extend their range of Scalextric Sport Track,  then Hornby Scalextric currently have a very good price reduction across the board.

The entire current track range is being offered at around a  30% discount.  This also includes all the range of boarders and barriers.

This is a really good saving,  especially if you are a Scalextric Club member,  as you will receive a further 10% discount of your total spend.

Both the less common Radius 3 and Radius 4 curves are available.  These make a great difference to any layout,  temporary or permanent.    A set of 8 Radius 3 curves is available as track  extension pack 6.   Also with the same big reduction are the outer boarders and barriers for both radius 3 and 4 curves.   These are often very expensive,  but much more affordable with this discount.

Have a look on the official Hornby Hobbies website,  but don't spend too much!

Hi, my name is Andy and I'm from Norfolk in the UK.

I'm mainly a model railway person but I've got a reasonable slot car collection and both Carrera (digital) and Scalextric tracks, neither of which are permanently set up.

I found some useful answers on here while googling about replacing Carrera tyres that have gone bad, so I've joined.
