The usual unveiling takes place this Tuesday, probably around lunchtime - or once the traffic jam from the Hornby launch at 9am has settled down.
However, the format is a bit different this year. What we'll see on Tuesday are all the new sets for 2024, but only the cars scheduled to arrived in the Spring and Summer. That does remove the frustration of seeing a car announced in January, pre-ordering it, but not having it in your hands until 12 or 14 months later. Most of the remaining 2024 cars will be unveiled on the eve of the UK Slot Car Festival in May - and many will be on display at Gaydon as prototypes or pre-production samples.
Whether spreading the excitement over the year increases our enjoyment or dilutes it remains to be seen... but it does work well for the company, allowing them more flexibility over release dates and a more ordered flow of new products being released into the marketplace. It'll certainly make the Slot Car Festival an essential trip for all Scalextric fans.
I can promise you some excellent new stuff on Tuesday, just not as much of it as we're used to. Part 2 in May will more than make up for any gaps.

Got to love those trucks!!!
Nice warm up for the slot version in France in February...
Anyone got a UK source for Fly Truck slot guides (with springs) please? Pendles are sold out and a Google search hasn't turned up anything, nor has eBay.
Is there a suitable drop-in alternative at all?
One of three used Fly trucks I bought had a Scalextric guide fitted. Unsprung and the post is too short and too tight a fit to work anyway
Are the latest Team Slot motor mounts unique, or will they interchange with Slot. It? I'm specifically thinking about the Escort mk2 - I quite fancy trying one, but I don't like the long can motor.
Thanks,
Stuart.
In November last year, I finally made it back to the hallowed ground of the Barn to race in Nascar. All the old excitement came flooding back and I was determined to go racing in 2024. This is slightly hampered by clashing diaries with the wife but I'm sure we can work something out.
This thread is going to document me prepping my cars and Dylan's ready for this year and beyond.
Last night we raced in the Mod round. We both raced in Tuners which is the hard body, stock chassis sub class. Very pleased to come away with the win but hopefully we see more competition over the season as winning your class before you even drive your final does feel a little empty.
Anyway here is the racebox today. First order of business is clearing out the non-relevant cars, parts and other assorted bits and pieces.

Car Entry
Entrants are now able to enter 2 cars for separate events of the 3 for a limited period. This will be initially restricted to 20 entry places, and the remaining places will be allocated for single car entries. Should there be a shortfall in entrant numbers the possibility of increased number of two car entries could be extended.
However there is no Team award for two car entries in this Proxy
It is intended that we should have 10 entries for each of the 3 Events in the programme, or 30 cars overall.
Entry fee is £15 for one car and £20 for 2 car entries
We start our WHO/digital year with a pair of Nascar & Legends Wednesdays. These are an ideal introduction to Scalextric digital using RCS64 software and give everyone the opportunity to get up to speed, ready for an action-packed season of racing. They are also a lot of fun!
● The evenings feature a Nascar club car team race, followed by a bring-your-own Pioneer Legends pairs race.
● You don’t need to buy any cars to enjoy these Wednesday events.
● During the evening we gradually introduce the tyre wear, fuel consumption and (maybe) weather features of our RCS64 race management software. Team captains will help you with the nuts and bolts of digital racing - and to the subtleties of race strategy.
● Doors open at 6.30pm for practice and digital driving school. Teams are allocated and we start racing with evenly-matched club cars as near to 7pm as possible.
● An hour of action is divided into three or four segments of either 15 or 20 minutes, including driver changes every five minutes.
● Teams swap cars at each break - winners with last place, second with fifth etc. After an hour of racing, total laps are added up and prizes awarded at around 8.30.
● The Pioneer Legends cars are Digital Plug Ready (DPR) so are easy to convert to digital. To compete, racers must have their own - or the offer to share another driver’s car. There are no club cars available. Full build guidelines are explained in the WHO/Digital 2024 Guide pdf here: https://slotracer.online/community/showt...9#pid34539
● The usual Legends format is two 8-minute qualifying heats, with a driver change at half-distance.
● The cars completing the most laps in their 8-minute qualifying heat automatically for the feature race, the other six battle it out for the remaining places in an 6-minute ‘B-Final’.
● In the unlikely event there are only six legends cars (or fewer), a single twenty minute race is held - a driver change window straddling the half-way point of the race.
● And that usually takes us up to 9.30pm - or sometimes a little later.
● Once you have a couple of Nascar & Legends Wednesdays under your belt, then our GT Championship and Digital Saturdays will be a more gentle learning curve!
The January race will take place on a new track layout designed by Simon...
Entry is £3 (£2 under-16s) for the whole evening of racing. We ask that racers aged 13 and under bring a responsible adult with them.
