We have 2 sets of clubcars at the 'Fort' covering 1/32 & 1/24 classes, the 1/24 are Parma Flexi2 chassis with 16d motors and a sports bodyshell (I cant for the life of me remember which one), they are painted to match the lane colours, and the spare car is silver.
They suit our track very well and are one of the quickest class of car.

Round 1 was 17th Feb and saw 9 racers take to the track for 4x 3 minute races, the total of all races to count. from the outset if was Mike, Bernie, Ian & Ken posting the high numbers, Ken had a poor race in green lane which dropped him back a little, Bernie just kept his nose in front through the series of races to claim the win, from Mike, Ian and then Ken.
The times were quite poor due to the track needing a good clean, that will be done before round 2.
Round 2 followed on 14th April, by now the track had been cleaned and freshly spray-gooped, it felt fast, sadly only 6 members made it up the club but we had some VERY close racing I think everyone enjoyed the grip & stability that was shown by the cars, even if one lane was a little down on power, the racing was frantic, the increase in speed making overtaking a fine art, the results are the total of all 4 races and at the end of the evening the results were Bernie from Graeme, and Ian just getting the better of Ken for 3rd.

We have a number of 'Special' evenings throughout the year at the 'Fort, fun being the order of the day, one such class is caravans, a homemade trailer caravan towed behind one of your slotcars via a homemade 'hitch'.
There have been a few different trains of thought on what makes a good car/caravan combo, we have seen lego caravans (which tend to fall apart when crashed), an ingenious one by Jason where the pivot for the hitch was on the bonnet of the towcar at the front, it was quite stable and didn't 'whip' like others but because of that it couldn't negotiate our tight corner.
Anyway 31st March saw Rd1 of this years 'Specials', the caravans made another appearance, the new build of Les looking very quick in practice, on closer examination the towcar turned out to be a Genesis!! how about that Richard Mack, probably NOT what you had in mind for your chassis
Once again the laughter was louder than the cars and at the end of the evening Bernie had JUST beaten Les for the win, with Mike & Graeme rounding out the top 4.
I reckon Les needs to keep the caravan attached, it was rapid, wheras Anthony needs to find some way of keeping his caravan attached to it's wheels, I think it lost at least one wheel every race which rather slowed it down.
The track was as bad as I've seen it last night, 5 laps on clean tyres and suddenly the grip had gone, no surprise that the lap records weren't troubled, although Ian & Mike seemed to pull some quick times, Mike having the only sub 4 second lap all night.

The racing was hard & fast with good battles (and plenty of nerfs) through the field, in the end it came down to a last race shootout between Ian & Bernie, Ian kept his nerve and took the win, 3rd was Mike followed by John.

Les is gatting the hang of his Genesis and had a very good run on red lane, but you have to feel a little sorry for Anthony, the only one NOT running a Genesis, he ran a rebodied NSR but still had rubber tyres so considering all that he did very well.

We are Woodland Fort Slot Car Club, Crownhill Rd, Honicknowle, Plymouth, Devon PL5 3SQ UK

The club was originally formed by a small group of friends who raced on a 6 lane, figure of 8 Scalextric track, I joined them early in 2018 and with a lot of help from the late Rob Lees we borrowed the old Four Lane Blacktop track (since purchased from Rob), this served to encourage the members and soon after another track was purchased (off eBay), this is the track we currently use (when COVID allowed) and the FLBT track will be used for demonstrations at events etc.
We race a number of classes and try to encompass most forms of slot racing, a standard Scalextric 'style' in Production Saloons to Anything goes 1/32 Sports/GT.
We also have 2 classes run as club cars, i/32 Trucks (brass/pianowire chassis with a vac formed 'Peterbuilt' style body, and 1/24 Sports utilising Parma production chassis & 16D motors within a lexan LMES type shell.
Anyone is welcome on our club nights, under 16's must bring a responsible adult, we have cars & controllers available to borrow or you can bring your own.

Obviously COVID means that we are currently not open but when allowed we will continue racing in a friendly (but competitive) nature

Find us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/woodlandfortslotcarclub

I will end by saying that without Robs help this club would still be sitting on the floor around a Scaley track, Robs friendship (I knew him for 30 years) and obvious enthusiasm for slot racing were the main reasons this club progressed, we will sadly miss you Rob.
