Yesterday saw the final race at Roughwood, now down to two tracks for GOLD, but no less racers :)
One of the oil filled radiators decided its time was up too, a pop followed by some smoke marked its demise.
Still we had a good few races, and the usual banter before time was called.
Roughwood will now be recycled into baseboard for my next Model Railway project, the track timing PC and Arduino will be finding a new home at Shedingarden, as Steve's PC gave up the ghost last night apparently !
Tel has indeed gone over to the dark side and an 00 gauge railway will soon replace the slot car track! Looking on the bright side though Fluff and myself got first dibs at his surplus cars and bits. Probably spent more than I should have done.
I will miss the track but Tel will still be joining us at the other two and I hear rumours of a possible new one near Fluff's.
The intrepid trio met up again, thankfully Brian was feeling up to hosting, so another day of banter and racing ensued at Conington.
Some of Brian's newly acquired stock got a run out with the Pioneer Dodge legends providing very close racing, with literally nose to tail racing and lead swapping at least every other lap.
In fact most of the racing was fairly close.
Great company, and Bacon rolls, Cake and liquid refreshments provided by Brian's good lady, made another GOLD meet a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Next round at Shedingarden in due course.
Must admit it was a great day ,good company and fantastic food . The racing was very close but more fu because of it . The next meet at mine in July ,date to be fixed later.
Brian ,is Thursday ok at mine for the computer update ?
Shedingarden's RC software was fully sorted on Wednesday, and the Trio of regulars met up again.
After lunch we were joined by Tony who proceeded to make us all look slow !
An enjoyable race meeting was had by all, although some plastic people were less fortunate, 1960's (lack of) safety standards rearing its head again
Next stop, Connington Park
Just moved down from Sunderland to Swaffham. Brian has kindly invited me to visit and see how you operate.
I was a member of North East Restoration Club Slots for 30 years and ran it for 15.
I used to run it with the rule of box standard cars and no performance cars allowed.
The baton has now been passed on to the famous racer Gerry Fitzsimmons . Hes been running the club for about 3 years now and is doing an excellent job.
It was a bit emotional when I said goodbye to folk.
Cheers
Kev.
Thanks for your kindness and I look forward to meeting yous.
Cheers.
