Ferrari 250 GTO 1964
#1

Received this today, got it for a great price.

A Monogram Ferrari 250 GTO 1964 static kit, it's 54mm wide so perfect for our Small Sports classes.

The plan is to draw up a 3D chassis for it, must be inline for our class rules (54mm is asking too much to get a SW in a plastic chassis anyway).

It needs a few missing decals, a 3D printed driver and navigator will be in residence.

Hi Kevan,

That's a very cool find!

Looking forward to seeing your 3D chassis.

The chassis is a tweaked version of one I did for a George Turner AC Cobra. I'll get a couple of pictures later.

I'm torn about the exhausts, I prefer the pipes that exhaust under the door sills.

One thing I've noticed, the front arches on the Monogram body don't seem cut out high enough, not a problem, easily fixed.

First track tests last night, 250 laps and I'm happy with the performance.  I'll probably fill the space in the front of the pod with lead as that's what it was designed for and get rid of the 3 small bits at the front.

I've notice the drivers headlight has dropped out of it's hole which is unfortunate as the lens is glued on.

The motor is a NSR Shark 25 with the power turned down 40% is spoiling the handling and would be a nicer car to drive with a much smoother SRP 20k short can.
