This week see's us return to Shenanigans Raceway after quite a while of no racing due to other members having prior commitments meaning so there were not enough people to do racing and marshalling, so into the write up I go with the Racing Results for this week.

This week saw us one racer down again, Jeffery, who will be absent from racing for the next five weeks.

This week saw quite a few attempts and some successful 'doing a Lindsay' manoeuvre ;) it was great to be back at Shenanigans Raceway. This week again saw Angry Joe appeared once again LOL,  he started out being nice and friendly, as we progressed through the classes he became more aggressive with his driving, I think he enjoys the faster cars and this is how he shows it LOL.

This week saw the usual deslots, though Paul took the win for the most spectacular in GT International class, he came around the second Dunlop corner and lost all grip, deslotted and then went flying off the track completely straight into Joe's hands... wow indeed and great reflexes from Joe to catch the car.

The leaderboards and podiums were taken out by four racers this week, with Johnno managing to take one podium position from the five events.

The Leaderboards and Podiums were again obtained by all racers across all events, congratulations to everyone on your Leaderboard and Podium wins and great racing.

As is natural for Johnno, I performed several 'coming through' deslots. This week was the second week running the new car for the Trans-Am class with some quick setup done, the car has come a long way, though it requires some more tuning, specifically wider tyres on the rear.

Time permitted us to run a Host Fuel Class with the BRM Mini Coopers 1:24 scale. These small cars have a small COG, meaning the tip easier, the more laps these cars are getting under them, they are running better and better. 

The Host Fuel Class has the racers moving through each lane while the cars stay in their colour specific lane making every racer run with cars that might be better than another though they are setup the same, those little quirks of each car makes them interesting.

Spent a few hours this morning preparing the track for today's racing at Shenanigans Raceway.

I'd just wiped the track down two days ago and was a little miffed to find the same amount of dust had settled once again.

Test laps done to check track functions - all good and working and surprised to see how close each lane is, even the yellow lane with the two nasty hairpins.

I've also enabled the Debug option for today so we can triage the possibility that the first lap is being missed, though I suspect it working, I guess we will find out from Dave when I send to him for further triage.

The track test results running the Slot.it Maserati Granturismo GT3, damn this thing glues itself to the track, even running the chicane it just grips, mind you it doesn't look at all nice, I'd hate to be in a real Maserati and do this, you'd lose your head from the G's.

This week we return to Shenanigans Raceway, Taree. I've sent out the text late yesterday 14th June and have got five racers saying they will be in attendance, with Joe unable to make it this week, Joe has one heck of a social life... so we will be running on the three lane setup. 

This will make the racers happy as that means we drop the Yellow Lane, the hardest lane with two 90 degree hairpins that everyone has a passionate hate for 

Well, what a mixed variety of leaderboards and podiums we have again this week, great to see the rookies making a run for the podium positions.

With Paul back the rookies once again have fallen from podium placings to some extent :( however this also gave Charlie some competition as Paul and Charlie are both on the same level of competitive racing which is a good thing in slot cars as everyone needs a competitor.

What a race meet it was today, Lap Records fell everywhere, from memory Paul snagged the lap record, not being happy with that, Paul then proceeded to beat his own lap record three times in a row, that car of his sure is a pocket rocket.

Throughout the day there was some exciting and fast racing between everyone, Johnno has made improvements in leaps and bounds, keeping up with Paul and Charlie for some time before he throws it away by pushing too hard, but boy oh boy Johnno sure is coming along with his racing, specifically noticing fewer and fewer deslots in all classes ran.

Deslots!!! Deslots!!! Deslots!!! 
Deslots to the left, deslots to the right, deslots on the overpass, deslots under the overpass, everywhere a deslot... by everyone today, Paul really only ever deslots when he is racing extremely hard to get lap times or beat someone. We had quite a few 'very hard' deslots with cars smacking hard into the track edging, thankfully no damage. 

There were a few 'coming throughs' performed by Johnno (Wombat) and Charlie, those 'shovel nose' LMP's are the main culprits for flipping cars out of the way or carrying the other car on their roof.

Today saw the most deslots and heavy crashes to date under the overpass, Johnno (Wombat) and Charlie had a significant crash underneath the overpass. The overpass you need to pick your braking point and apply brakes before the camber changes and your car loses traction under brakes, not a very nice thing to hear nor see.

Shenanigans Raceway proudly utilises and supports the software Race Coordinator as our official slot car lap timing software package in conjunction with the Trackmate hardware, a complete turn-key Timing Solution for commercial and private Slot car tracks.

Race Coordinator contains a wide range of racing options from the most basic Round Robin races to the most complicated multi-race events that include Practice time, one or more Qualifying races, and a Finals.

Some new photos showing the track layout as it stands every day for my own testing of cars after tuning and tweaking, running in slot cars motors and gears and practising not to deslot ???

On race day the chicane module is installed, surprising how much chaos occurs at this chicane, it isn't that nasty, however it does appear at the end of the straight, if you get the chicane right your run onto the main straight can be a very quick time.

Photos showing underneath LED lighting of the overpass found them at Coles in the battery isle, track name lettering in MDF from Spotlight (quick tip remove the Spotlight barcode stickers asap as the glue goes seriously tacky, a quick sand, primer coat, Sky Blue final coat and a clear coat applied, the rattle spray paint from Supercheap Auto, FYI there is a grey primer called Machine Grey, it is a superb darker grey, which I used on the bridge with a clear coat looks quite nice.

Currently I've got the Shenanigans Raceway lettering held on with Blu-Tak, waiting to find some perspex to run along the overpass top.

Racing 14th July, 2021, Shenanigans Raceway - Johnno

Inline with Government Guidelines racing for 14th July, 2021 at Shenanigans Raceway will be postpones until further notice.

So until then practice and tune, rinse and repeat. Time to dismantle a few cars and rebuild then, work out why one motor will only reach a top of half speed, why has it reduced so much, oh well pull it down also and check things out.

Finally the group found ourselves back at Shenanigans Raceway, Taree.

This week we were missing Jeffery once again as for next week at Bluehaven Raceway has been postponed with us moving onto Old Bar Raceway.

Things started well with only three lanes, my Ninco started ok but then started spluttering and carrying on, Lindsay was great enough to loan me one of his and away we went, I think he got a bit nervous I might beat him with his own car LOL, in mean time Paul had a squiz at my car and the small motor clip had come off, ok well time to solder that sucker on now.
Well, the leaderboards and podiums were taken out by four racers this week, there was hard racing this week, the Can-Am event was interesting, seeing these small cars fly down the main straight.

Johnno performed several of his 'coming through' drives, even picking up Lindsay and tossing him on his roof while racing along. We had a few deslots underneath the bridge.

The sub-threads that you will see from there are:
- Shenanigans Raceway, Taree

- Undara Circuit, Forster
- Bluehaven Raceway, Old Bar
that will contain their individual racing results and other information that the track owner would like to post at their leisure, probably won't happen so I will have to get to it myself sooner than later so please bare with me for a bit, where you can ask the track owner questions about their track, their cars, etc.

Each week we rotate through the four private tracks:
- small track, Old Bar Raceway, Old Bar
- large track, Undara Circuit, Forster
- small track, Bluehaven Raceway, Old Bar
- large track, Shenanigans Raceway, Taree

we then repeat depending on racer availability for racers and marshals.

Tentative Racing Calendar*:
- 28th July, Old Bar Raceway, Old Bar - confirmed for this meet
- 4th August, Undara Circuit, Forster -
- 11th August, Bluehaven Raceway, Old Bar -
- 18th August, Shenanigans Raceway, Taree -

Well, as you all may have seen and know by now that there is a complete 'Stay at home' orders have finally made it here to our area so racing today, Wednesday 18th August has had to be postponed.

We shall see what comes 24th August to see if we can get back to racing.

I guess until then all we can do is get in and continue tuning our cars.
