Spammers are bad enough, but scammers are quite frankly scum, preying on the weak, the frightened, the unaware, and those who might just be a little off guard.

I'm sure you are all careful when it comes to your online security, but I just thought I'd make you aware of the following scam on Facebook

Hi, I'm from Facebook Support-Team
This is an Important message from Facebook for admin page
Your Facebook page is scheduled for permanent deletion due to a post that has infringed upon our trademark rights. We have reached this decision after a thorough review and in accordance with our intellectual property protection policies.
If you believe this to be a misunderstanding, we kindly request you to file a complaint seeking the reinstatement of your page prior to its removal from Facebook.
Request for Review: Dodgy link here which I've obviously removed
We understand that this situation may impact your ongoing business operations. However, please be informed that if we do not receive a complaint from you, our decision will be final.
Your cooperation and understanding are greatly appreciated. Should you have any inquiries or apprehensions, please feel free to reach out to us.

We've had a couple of these this week. There are obviously several tell tale signs, such as these being left as a reply to a profile pic rather than through official channels, grammar mistakes, and the dodgy link. But threats of having a page that you've spent a while building up, deleted, can make you take your eye off the ball.

While I know that email addresses can be easily spoofed, and links are often not what they seem, this one is an actual legit facebook messenger link. Clicking on it goes to facebook messenger in your browser, but asks you to "continue as Whomever" in order to proceed. Still, everything looks legit and safe. I never proceeded, 'cus everything else about it is a red flag, but the typical obfuscated links and stuff are not present. I can see this one getting a TON of people.

I'll reserve my disdain for those doing the scamming, they are the ones that deserve the worst. Being gullible or even stupid isn't inherently wicked, nor even a conscious decision.

Between our FB group and page we have 11,000 followers, starting again isn't an attractive proposition.

I barely use my personal facebook account, and I'm no particular fan of it.

But 11,000 slot racers is a lot to gather together, and since FB is some people's choice of platform, I think it's useful for the hobby.

Definitely, it seems to be the only platform that connects all our club members because most have never visited a slot car forum and don't want to.
