Race report and results - 28th May 2026 -

- SRF F1 Sidecars
.
A great turnout tonight, nine of us and a pleasant summer evening near the end of TT practice week on the day it was announced that the Sidecar TT was cancelled for safety reasons…and the day we were to have our inaugural F1 Sidecar racing.
We had a quick conflab about the Sidecars, my original plan was to race those as an alternative class to the F1’s, Dave suggested running them at the end as he wanted to race the Club Revoslots and F1’s, so it was decided to shorten the racing of one of the other events and have a short round robin at the end for the Sidecars.
.
Ed was back from his Safari… wearing his running shoes tonight, he meant business!

Club Revoslots
.
These are so close you will probably get on the podium if you have no deslots…but It’s rare that happens (no deslots that is).
Everyone went quickest with the yellow Marcos except Paul who was quickest with the red Porsche.
The closest race was the last heat as Brian and Dave finished four car lengths apart with Chris chasing them on the same lap until the last lap of the night when his Blue Viper had a deslot.
.
F1 + Grand Prix + Prewing F1 + Classic F1
.
Five NSR F1’s tonight, Andy’s wasn’t getting caught tonight but Chris’s NSR was flying round, I don’t think he’s ever managed a 6.0 sec lap with it before, Brian and Mike weren’t far behind him either but Brian’s consistency put him second behind Andy’s NSR.
Ed went well with his NSR too, especially in Blue lane where he usually struggles.
.
A pair of Policar Classic F1’s, Dave & Geoff.
Dave’s Ferrari had grip problems, too much grip, which was making one tyre roll off the edge of one wheel; whilst Geoff’s Ferrari went as well as last time.
It’s fair to say we didn’t see what Dave’s Ferrari was really capable of.
.
One Prewing F1 (Kev’s Lotus 24) which was the quickest of the ‘non NSR F1’s’ and one Grand Prix car (Paul’s Cartrix Porsche 804) with a Ninco NC1 motor which is Paul’s favourite motor.
.
Everyone chooses to race the class they prefer, it doesn’t have to be the fastest to enjoy driving it.
.
SRF F1 Sidecars
.
As it stands, five of us have race-ready Sidecars and tonight was the inaugural race.
Some time was saved by shortening the Club Revoslots races and we had a round robin event of one minute heats.
First up were Mike (Red lane), Dave (Yellow lane) and Paul (Blue lane) for the very first race. It was a fantastic race too with Mike & Dave within a few outfit lengths all race and all three outfits crossed the finish line about seven sidecar lengths apart albeit with Paul a lap down.
Kev’s fluoro green & pink sidecar was the one to catch, managing a 6.4 sec hot lap - these aren’t slow!
Geoff’s silver outfit was the first of the new SRF Sidecar owners to be built and driven and is going through the ‘ironing out the little problems’ stage.
These need super low profile front tyres if they’re using the supplied 3D printed wheel. Some were using an alternative front alloy wheel, Kev used an old very worn down BSCRA foam tyre and wheel cut to 10mm wide.
.
These are great fun to race, very forgiving, they all have the same motor - Slotcarmann 26k Harrier, which is more than quick enough for these outfits.
.
It’s always good when something new works better than expected, three classes in one evening was a first and we all enjoyed it so we could do this going forward with slightly shorter races in the other two events.
.
Three videos this week…enjoy!
