Race report and results - 4th June 2026 -
A good turnout tonight with six of us and all six with SRF F1 Sidecars… which means proper racing for the first time…
…and three different events of two and a half minutes racing per heat!
.
Choose to race the class you prefer, it doesn’t have to be your fastest car - enjoy driving it!
.
Saloons + Small Saloons + Group 5 Saloons
Even though we’ve amalgamated all the Saloon types together, it’s great to see all three types represented.
.
Sports + Small Sports + Group 5 Sports
Wot, no Moslers… in Sports!!!…I guess we enjoy racing other cars more, which is great to see.
Again Small Sports well represented and good to see Geoff’s gold leaf Lola getting some practice in for next weeks Le Manx.
.
SRF F1 Sidecars
It’s time…everyone turned up with their SRF F1 Sidecar and they look tremendous, no two the same, all with the same sealed motor but with varying choices of gear ratios.
What seems to work well is 3:1 or thereabouts, i.e. 12/36 or 11/34. This gives plenty of acceleration and brakes and more than enough top speed.
.
10mm wide tyres gives a great selection of tyre choices, tried and tested compounds in this size on BallaYorkley are NSR Alan Mann Untragrips, Thunderslot 002 or 004’s
.
A good chunk of ballast down the centre of the chassis seems to work well.
.
One thing that is becoming apparent is the front tyre needs to be a small diameter so it doesn’t foul the chassis or touch the bodywork.
.
We’ll have to formulate a ‘gentlemans agreement’ on what we can/can’t do and so far as can be seen we’re all adhering to these:
So how did they go?
.
Three videos this week…enjoy!

We’ll have to formulate a ‘gentlemans agreement’ on what we can/can’t do and so far as can be seen we’re all adhering to these:
- Slotcarmann Harrier handout motors
- 10mm wide tyres
- No tyre treatment once racing starts
- Ballast inside the outfit only
So how did they go?
- Sadly Chris’s striking RAF livery outfit only lasted half a lap before a major problem arose but he’ll be back.
- Andy’s silver Gulf livery looks great and is very smooth to drive and managed a couple of 6.1 second laps, yes, 6.1 seconds on its first night out.
- Dave’s outfit went well like last week but he says he needs to re-gear to 3:1 for more top speed.
- Paul’s outfit went as well as last week, again maybe needs gearing up a bit.
- Kev’s outfit went well last week and went better this week with no changes to setup.
- Geoff’s outfit went much better than last week, the biggest improvement of them all.
