Race report and results - 19th February 2026 - Club Ford GT40’s followed by Saloons
.
Seven club members tonight with a change of plan.
The original amended plan was to race our own GT40’s which would mean more class winners and give the cars a bit of a rest as they’ve been used a lot this year for other events, mainly by new club members who haven’t yet got their own cars.
.
After a bit of a discussion it was decided to only race the club cars as there were only seven of us.
.
The cars went well actually, maybe because they have been used regularly the tyres were already giving good grip.
.
At the end of the racing it was super close between Andy & Kev for top spot as both cars were separated by less than two seconds after ten minutes of racing.
.
Brian, Chris & Mike were only separated by just over one lap.
.
Ed & Paul were neck & neck until the results in the blue lane separated them by a couple of laps.
.
We had a mix of Small Saloons and Saloons including a pair of Jaguar XJ12C’s as Brian decided it was time his big Jag had its proper race debut after years of ownership… it’s a really nice runner and he had a big smile after racing it.
Mike brought his Jaguar XJ12C again this week after such a good showing last week in the Sports racing and ended the night rather well… see the end of the report!
.
Two Small Saloons, Ed’s Metro 6R4 in Open class which is a nice running car…until it got in a spot of bother with larger Saloons in one race and Kev’s Anglia in Prostock class which was more than holding it’s own against the larger Saloons…until a 3D printed rear wheel came off down the main straight and the car came to rest in the wall with 40 seconds to go…these things happen to everyone!
.
Paul’s large Dodge Charger is quite overwhelming when you line up against it in a small saloon, it goes well for a Pioneer car and I think we’ll be seeing it again soon.
.
Andy decided it was time to debut a ‘larger-then-it-looks’ Toyota Yaris Rally car, it goes wonderfully…until it tangles with another car (cars) in hairpin carnage as both wing mirrors came off, one being tipped out of Mike’s Jag half a lap later on. The 4WD didn’t hold it back at all.
.
…and so back to Mike’s XJ12C Jag, overall top score on the night, a pat on the back and a ‘well done’. It’s an impressive car, I want one!
.
…enjoy the two videos!

Next week is Italian cars night 'Grande Corse' (Great Race)...it was planned to be a proxy type evening but we’ll save that format for another time.
...newer club members still getting cars for the classes can race what they have
