Cars from my youth - the 60s ? -
Anthony B - 3rd-Dec-25
In a few months time I hit a big birthday ? Been looking my large collection of bits - especially the old stuff and started renovating and fixing them.
First up are three cars that were my first venture into cars away from Scalextric.
Atlas Gt 40 - I remember trying to build this and the absolutely frustrating time I had trying to mount the car at the rear ?? not sure I figured it out at the time.
Monogram Porsche 904 and Ferrari 330 - loved these cars and raced them till they died ?

Finished these this week. The Ferrari had a huge hole in the rear deck which I Fixed with Vallejo putty!
The Porsche has a 60s chassis and body, but I had parts from an MRRC body so used some of the parts ?
Cars are sitting a bit high and will fix that when i get back from visiting the kids.
I will be adding more as i go along ?
Let’s see your cars from when you started this fantastic hobby - irrespective of the decade. Looking forward to hearing your stories!!

Anthony,
Nostalgic slot cars for sure!
I started off with a Strombecker set around 1970.
My two favourites were the GT40, and Chaparral 2D.

I painted an HO version in it's memory.

I rebuilt the 2D, and still race it today. (Pic by FotoDoug)
