I love painting bodies - KensRedZed - 12th-May-25

The first slot car club I joined did not allow RTR white kits. Everything had to be proper race liveries. So I got into the habit of avoiding white kits.

Rules have since loosened up, and I'm making up for lost time.

I started with a Slot.It Opel Calabri V6. I made the mistake of trying a new paint/colour. It was advertised as "Metallic Orange". It had way too much metallic. Looks more like turd of hurdles. It will be my last can of "Testors Metallic Turd". Tamiya only from now on. Live and learn.

After clear coat.

The next victim was a Revo Slot Porsche 911. Everything went back to normal with Tamiya orange paint.

A can of Tamiya yellow is stirring for an NSR Porsche 997 rally car to be painted shortly.

Thank you very kindly for looking.

I don't mind single colour jobbies, it's all the masking and faffing I can't be bothered with because I always end up with a poor result.

I had to look up "faffing".

"Faffing" is a British informal term that means wasting time on unimportant activities or fussing over something trivial.

I disagree. Slot cars are important, and not trivial at all.  Bigsmile

I prefer solid colours too.  Thumbup

Come now....we all know there are white liveries available.   Granted it depends on the car and the decals.

I've never left a car bare plastic yet. I'll still paint it white.

This is a white Shelby GT 350R livery from the Targa Florio.

Next on the list was a BRM Porsche 917. Lots of open, flat, smooth real estate to cover. Get it right, or mistakes will be very obvious.

Here's some progress on my BRM 917K white kit - this will be car #22 from the 1970 LeMans race that did not finish
