RE: Southend Slot Racing Club - autoavia - 24th-Feb-22

Thanks to everyone who has replied. I must admit that it is only SSRC and a couple of good long term friends outside of slot racing that has kept me going for a while now. I will never forget her but life does move on and I am hoping that I will feel able to get back to entering a few open meetings later in the year.

RE: Southend Slot Racing Club - autoavia - 4th-Mar-22

After some very close racing in the F1 and NASCAR classes we move on to

Pre 1967 Front Engined Sports/GT Cars.
This replaces our old Ninco Classics class and follows CSCRA rules except that the motor is limited to 25000 rpm.

and

Racer Sideways Group 5
which always produce some fast and furious action.

As usual practice from around 6pm and racing starts at 7.30pm.

We can welcome new members again now but please contact Barry via the email address on the club website so that we can try to arrange the loan of a controller and cars for the evening. Alternatively if you want to spectate for the first evening and maybe have a try either before racing starts or during the interval that is fine.

First night is free then fees are £5 per race night.

We were missing a web page showing the cars for the 1961-85 F1 class so everyone brought along all their eligible cars on Tuesday which can now be seen here http://www.southendslotclub.co.uk/cosworth.html

They are a mixture of scratchbuilt with a Penelope Pitlane chassis, standard Scalextric, standard Policar and scratchbulit with a Policar pod and Andi Rowland 3D chassis.

RE: Southend Slot Racing Club - autoavia - 16th-Mar-22

Apologies for forgetting to post this weeks meeting but last night we had some good battles in the Earlybirds Grand Prix cars up to 1960 and the Slotit/NSR/Fly Classic Sports Prototypes/Can Am classes.

Our next meeting on Tuesday 22nd March we will be racing

NSR F1 and a Club Class where cars are provided by club member John English

We had a bit of a bad start with NSR F1 but having changed the voltage they are much more driveable and produce some good close racing.

As usual new members are welcome but it would be helpful if you contact Barry (email address is on the club website) beforehand so that we can arrange loan of a controller and cars. If you prefer to spectate on your first visit that is fine.

Practice from around 6pm and racing starts at 7.30pm.
First night is free for new members then race fees are £5 per night.

We will also run our first vintage evening for 2022 on Friday 25th March which will be a rung what ya brung event to give those competing in Big Birds and Double Trouble at Rockingham on 2nd/3rd April a chance to shake the cobwebs out of their cars after a long lay up.
Usual times and race fees apply.

New vintage racers are always welcome. Our rules are based around the rules for Double Trouble at Rockingham but if, at first, your cars don't comply with the rules we can be flexible.
It would be helpful if any new racers could give Barry a call beforehand so that we know to expect you.

RE: Southend Slot Racing Club - autoavia - 19th-May-22

It was good to welcome back the North London racers and Lee from Lewisham who all helped make up the really good attendance of nine racers for our first vintage race evening of the year last Friday.

We also had a huge 15 racers attending for 1/24 Minis and Slot it Group C on Tuesday. Fortunately the weather was good so we had an alfresco pit area to make it a bit less cramped in the clubhouse but racing finished rather later than usual due to the sheer number of people and a computer glitch.

Hopefully we will have more good close racing this Tuesday 24 May 2022 with

Scratchbuilt Saloons

and

Modified GT

Club rules for above and all our other classes are on the club website Southend Slot Racing Club

Please don't arrive for practice before 6.30pm as Mark needs some time to sort out the parking after he has finished work for the day
Racing starts at 7.15pm

We can probably find room for a couple of new members. If you are interested in coming along please use the contact details on the club website to let us know that you will be attending so that we can try to organise loan cars and a controller for the evening. You don't need to have any previous experience of club racing and members are happy to give advice to help you with car preparation.
If you prefer to spectate on your first evening that is fine but it is probably better to just dive in and give it a go. Nobody will mind if you are slow (or fast!).

First evening is free then race fees are £5 per night.
