Whatever the faults of F1 right now, it was a good race at Catalunya today.
Antonelli is obviously an exceptional talent, and a future world champion, probably at the end of this year.
But it was also lovely to see Lewis win again, and a Ferrari win.

Kimi is slightly better than George, they've had the fastest car up until yesterday but I've not seen Kimi do anything special of note to be putting him up alongside Lewis or Max just yet.
Maybe the modern iteration of F1 doesn't show up what a Lewis or Max did at the beginning of their F1 careers.

First 'Full English' podium since 1958 when there were three instances:
- Belgian GP - Tony Brooks, Mike Hawthorn, Stuart Lewis-Evans
- British GP - Peter Collins, Mike Hawthorn, Roy Salvadori
- Portuguese GP - Stirling Moss, Mike Hawthorn, Stuart Lewis-Evans
Sadly, Collins and Lewis-Evans were killed in Grand Prix before the year was out and Hawthorn was killed in a car crash the following January only three months after retiring from racing.

I'm a big fan of F1, but I have to admit that this season has been a bit rubbish.
We've got to the stage where tyre management and power management are the main topics of discussion in the commentary. That's all wrong.
Of course everybody was clamouring for more overtaking, and we got that, but it's false, it doesn't mean anything.
Well done to Kimi Antonelli, but Formula 1 has some questions to ask itself.

I'll admit I'm struggling Jason, struggling to rediscover my lifelong love of F1 that was wrenched away at the end of the 2021 season when rules were deliberately manipulated to stop Lewis winning that last race.
My first memory is watching Coopers in black & white and loved F1 ever since... up to that day.
...I'll keep trying but honestly F1 is now a sham

Ronnie and I were both lifelong F1 fans but, as she said yesterday, it is no longer worth watching. the cars don't exite, the drivers are just managing them instead of driving them the whole thing is run by money and politics and people with no real connection to sport and competition.
Basically, it has become boring as hell. I have live timing on in the background just to see if anything interesting might be happening but haven't actually watched a GP for years. Occasionally I have a look at 'highlights' but they are pretty dim.
Back to reading.

Not that I am one to say "I told you so" Jason but............
there is only one suitable place for a racing car with an electric motor - a slot car track.
Come over to the dark side and watch NASCAR instead.

My humble apologies. But that made me laugh.
Here's a plug for the NHRA.
There's nothing on the planet like a 12,000 (twelve thousand) horsepower top fuel dragster that uses 1.5 gallons of fuel per second. The record is 345 mph in 3.7-seconds.
But, you need to see it live. Plug your ears all you want. It literally shakes your bones to the core.
