A good find Leo ,do you think you'll be able to fix it?

RE: What Vintage slots stuff have you bought recently - Scuderia_Turini - 5th-Sep-19

Yo Steve, I have hope! Trouble is that to my mind, someone has tried before as one of the assembly screws is too long and fouls the mechanism.

Some day, some day...

A couple of cars I bought that will need quite a bit of work.... but both relatively....scarce (hate the way rare is abused) - both 1/24th. Although both arrived these are the auction pics ) Cool

First a Cucaracha in green. It does have screwholes on the side, but will see what I can do with those to try and hide a bit .  It also has an original Chassis and wheels and motor for the Dynamic Ferrari P3, which coincidentally I have an original body. AND...I have a complete original Cuc chassis , so happy all round.

SO while not perfect - I paid 1/10th of what they normally go for.

For a long time been looking for this car - it is the mate to the Ferrari 312 F1 made by Carrera.

It too needs work, but am happy to do that. Bought as the engine detail, and all other detail is good - just missing a drivers head. And got from same seller for really next to nothing.....

Tyres about to be ordered, and decals as well for the Matra refurb :)

Very happy with these.

Could not resist these when I saw them at a very low price.

Battery boxes for a Marx  raceway, and they are styled to look like vintage lead-acid car batteries. I got a red one and a blue one, both in excellent cosmetic state. The red unit control lever has de-hinged but the blue unit worked straight out of the box.  As well as having the styled top the sides represent a building.

The control is a simple resistor wire wound round a former and with a wiper that swings in an arc. There is no spring-return so the lever can be set and left in place. No brake contact of course.  The yellow bits cover the rivets holding the battery contacts in place.

Box is designed to hold three D size cells offering 4.5 volts. Resistor value is about eleven ohms, the standard set up was just enough to get a Hornby MINI running in a controlled manner (needed a push to get going though!).

The boxes came with four sections of track including the power-base. The wire connections are fabulous - much like loudspeaker connectors where one pushes down a lever to open the receptacle and then pushes in the bared wire end.

I think this is an interest that is low on our forum - ie vintage Rofl Rofl

Anyhoo - some items I recently have got:

Some 1/32nd chassis I recently got from Argentina - essentially bought them for a song as no-one bid on them - I assume because the seller was based in Argentina. Parcel arrived in 5 days - 1/3rd the time it now takes from the UK.

And then a few Scalextric Lister Jaguars - for some reason have an affinity for these (pretty ugly) cars. Sun

Except for the lemon yellow - bought the others in a parcel as they all needed repairs,,,,,

Not posted on this thread because I have been busy building and I have lost track of when I bought lots of my vintage stuff but I have bought the following recently.

Revell 1/32 Chaparral which was full of dust and dirt when it arrived. I have another body so the nose damage isn't a problem but unusually this one has a decent screen and all the intakes and exhausts so I can make one good one from two.

[attachment=10614]

Revell 1/32 Lang Cooper which was a cheap buy it now but I didn't look properly and the rear arches have been cut out

[attachment=10615]

This is the original body that came with the chassis in the pic above but it has butchered body posts

[attachment=10616]

The body posts are attached to the interior so I should be able to swap the interiors and have one decent Lang Cooper. I think I already have a set of decals from Pattos as the originals are a bit tatty.
Both bodies still have the gearbox detail moulding attached to the rear panel which is often missing.

I will probably rebuild the arches on the second shell and use it to build a car for CSCRSA events with modern running gear.

RE: What Vintage slots stuff have you bought recently - KensRedZed - 4th-Dec-20

They look very cool!

Broken body posts are often a scratch-builders dream. You can usually get the car at a discount. Then take it home and remove all the old residue from the broken posts and install Evergreen styrene tubing with brass inserts. They are sometimes better than the original posts.

Here's an old Strombecker Chaparral 2D that was updated. Don't ask me where the green colour came from. I had to add a small piece of flat sheet at the rear window to support the rear post. I hope this inspires you to look for old bodies with broken posts. These are merely opportunites under a different name.

RE: What Vintage slots stuff have you bought recently - autoavia - 5th-Dec-20

Lockdown has made me realise that I have quite a lot of vintage bodies and chassis that need sorting out including around 50 repop vintage vacforms in 1/32 and 1/24 but as well as building and maintaining cars for 12 different club racing classes I also race some CSCRA events and we have vintage at club every couple of weeks (when we can run again) together with Double Trouble at Rockingham every year so there just aren't enough hours in the day to get everything done.

 If you have seen my posts on the SSRC in Lockdown thread on Slotforum you will know that I have ben building a fair bit during lockdown so they will all get done eventually.

The Lang Cooper is quite an easy fix so it will probably jump the queue just to have the encouragement of having got something finished.
