Summer & Autumn...

We would see what happens with the questionnaire, perhaps there might be overwhelming support for one idea over the other, or perhaps there might no support for either. Which would make me think twice about running a classic proxy at all. Basically you need enough entrants to pay for the costs involved in sending the cars around etc.

Ideally we get good enough support to consider running them both as proxy events, then the other could be run in the future but not necessarily consecutively.

It will depend on the response I get.

I think I’m close to ready these have less motor than the max.

As a matter of interest, the Porsche 956 would be ok for the Millie Miglia
The Porsche 904 for the Tour De France
The Porsche 906 for the Targa Florio

That's if we adopt the Historic Road Races, at the moment it is probably going to be a "Toss of the coin"  Rofl

Wavegreen Its never too early to start planning another proxy  Rofl

However next year will be my 5th Anniversary of planning these proxy's and I have taken the executive decision to base the Spring Proxy next year on another Road Race similar to the very first  " Brighton to John O' Groats"  one I ran in 2021

The proposal for the Programme is outlined below.

List of Carrera Pan American Resin body kits available from Carlos Cadun (cadun@telefonica.net)

You are warned that the tracks used would be intended to be diverse mixture of Rally style and fixed track types.

There will be a eligible motor list and Car lists available as usual, but no long can motors will be allowed.

Now then...........we added three Targa Florio nights to our race calendar this year, one car on all three of our tracks (3 lane circuit plus 2 Rally stages).

Although our cutoff date is pre-1973 there's TONS of choice as far as cars are concerned and there's a list of cars on the forum somewhere.

...here's the list https://slotracer.online/community/showthread.php?tid=3979&pid=35048#pid35048

Just looking at what's available, will this only be for cars that actually raced rather than those that only tested for the event, I'm thinking Porsche 917K in the Targa Florio as an example.

Well the Porsche 917 is on my Targa Florio list, so I guess it may have entered but not actually run.
Basically any car of the period which entered a International Road Race in that Event, so for the Targa Florio Event could also include prototype cars which ran in the Tour De France.

RE: Slotting Car Proxy Club - Kevan - 27th-Feb-24

Vic Elford tested a 917K in the TF 1970 but it was too demanding to drive so swapped for a 908/3 for the actual race.

I am not that demanding on historical accuracy within reason. So I am quite happy to accept it in our proxy. It is mostly the Spirit of the event I want to capture.

Similarly with the Carrera Pan Americana, which on its own would be more limited in choice, so other Road race cars from TDF or Millie Miglia are permitted, but even better if they are decorated in the manner of the Pan Americana cars. I am sure if the actual event had been allowed to span a few more years, the cars of the period 55-59 would have entered which were taking part in other road races and would have been decorated in a similar manner as the actual earlier CPA cars.

That's at least one car penciled in for this proxy then  Thumbup
