A search turns up a lot of outdated posts on the subject.
Seems there used to be a free version of the Scalextric track layout design software, but the down load no longer opens (at least on my iOS Mac desktop).
I currently have my set up in an oval on an 8 x 10 on a sheet of plywood off the floor on saw horses.
But I'd like some type of layout design software where I could plug in my current track sections and it would give me a layout I could use on my hardwood floor for a temporaryset up.
I can't see paying for a subscription for using it so little. Even the old free Scalextric software had a 50 section limit.
Anything out there for a Mac?
Due to my setup the Pro Arc power unit hangs slightly over the edge of my Plywood sheet.
Which causes the male end of the power cord to hang straight out even farther.
I’d like to order from Amazon (or whoever carries them) 2 right angle adapters so both power plugs hang down instead of straight out where people walking by keep hitting it and it will eventually snap off.
** Anyone know the specs for this adapter or a link to an online shop to one? I tried Scalextric c/s and they had no idea! One would think the company who manufactuers their transformers would know or be able to get specs on what appears to be a standard barrel connector?
Length measures 10mm, 6.5mm width and inside diameter 4.5mm
I ordered these from Amazon and they are "too big" for the female port of the Arc Pro. ZYAMY 90 degree
- Type: DC Charging Cable Connector; Hole Diameter: 5.5mm; Pin Diameter: 2.1mm
- Contact part is made of copper material, good conductivity and durable, easy to use, long service life
- Convert the power supply with 5.5x2.1mm interface to 4.0x1.7/5.5x2.5/5.5x2.1mm power charging connector, so as to charge laptop etc
- Suitable for small electronics and devices which Use a 5.5 mm DC barrel jack for a power cable
- Package includes: 2 x 90 Degree Angle DC Charging Cable Connector
First post, thx . . . Is this even possible that they manufactured the left side of this new pit track too short.
Has anyone ever experienced this?
If I tighten the left side then the gap opens up on the right side.
It could also be the short pieces that fill in the lane along the side of the pit track one might have been cut to long?
First pic is the one side. And 2nd pic is the other side of the two pit lanes.
I'll have to take some finer measurments of each of the track sections in question.
This side of the set up is all a straight run after the curve.
Update: today I held all the 3 inch wide pieces togther and they were all the same length. There is still a wide space as shown in this 3rd pic taken today . . . It's either the pit track is too short or the 3 inch wide pieces are all cut too long?
Update #2: Scalextric c/s got back to me with a timely response: Give us a few days, we will send the short single lane track to you, I think that is the problem.
expidia: it looks like the issue was the "short" single lane (they shipped the set with 9 sections of code: CC) that may have been manufactured short rather than an issue with the two pit sections.
AFX Racing 22083 Alfa Romeo F1 #77 Valtteri Bottas Limited Edition.
Unveiled at Bob Beers' Superbowl HO Slot Car Show earlier this month, AFX will be releasing two limited edition 2023 Alfa Romeo F1 models - the #77 of Valtteri Bottas and the #24 of Zhou Guanyu...
AFX have released factory shots of the #77 production sample in the past couple of days and it looks stunning for a 1:64 scale HO slot car...
This is a brand new open-wheeler mould on the Mega-G+ chassis, following on from the sublime Panoz DP01 2007 ChampCar and the rather ugly Formula-N creation. These are the first licensed open-wheeler liveries since the original Mega-G releases of the Panoz DP01 back in 2008-9...
The detail is exquisite and the stance really rather good, considering the constraints of the scale...
Rumour has it the cars will be available in North America during the next month, with some making it over to Europe via H0slot.ch and slotcarsdirect.com.
We're back at the Barn for the start of our 2024 HO F1 season - four rounds taking place on the first Wednesday of March, June, September and December.
This is another 'box-stock' class, with racers favouring mostly Tomy AFX Mega-G+ and Super-G+ cars, although rumour has it an original Mega-G chassis may run too. The older Tyco 440X2, Tomy Turbo, Life Like M and Micro Scalextric chassis compete for the F1 Classic Cup sub class. All the build regs can be found on our website here.
We build layouts for F1 that are inspired by real-life circuits - although not always Grand Prix tracks. This season is a case in point, Mike coming up with an inspired choice of three from North America and one from Australia...
We start the season IndyCar-style on the streets of St Petersburg, Florida...
The layout has one of the highest number of 6-inch inner curves we've seen at the Barn, so is likely to favour the middle two lanes.
As always, doors open at 6.30pm for practice, with F1 heats beginning at 7. We aim to finish the finals and present medals by 9.30pm, but that does depend on numbers!
Entry is £3 (£2 under-16s) and club cars and controllers are available for no extra cost. We ask that racers aged 13 and under bring a responsible adult with them.
I've got a few new tyres I'm never likely to use. Some packets are unopened.
Scalextric W8528. Porsche 911 GT3 (C2339, for example) and Maserati Coupe (C2505, for example), may also fit other Scalextric cars of the same era. Unopened pack.
Paul Gage 20105.
NSR 5201 17x8 zero grip (can't remember how I ended-up with 5 of these)
NSR 5204 17x8 supergrip (one pair only)
NSR 5208 20x10 supergrip (one pair only)
Slot.it PT1088C1 (ex PT20) Unopened pack.
All free to a good home, I don't even charge for UK postage.
Pleasant surprise on my local BBC news programme last night while wading through the usual doom and gloom. Pete Shepherd's bespoke slot car business was featured. If you don't know him then check out his website HERE. he makes superb custom built cars which he often shows on our Facebook group.
The episode from 21/02/2024 will be on the iPlayer for a few days LINK and the piece is about 21 minutes in.
I'd finally managed to talk myself into being excused having to socialise with various in-laws on Saturday. I had been getting into Wifey's good books ever since Christmas, and was looking forward to a night away on my own and enjoying a full day of classic motorsport action.
This afternoon I went onto Race Retro's website to book my ticket.............
The event has been cancelled for this year, due to impending bad weather.
I hope my in-laws don't expect much conversation from me, because they are going to get even less than usual - which isn't a lot at the best of times.
