I've been using Microsoft products all my IT life - ie since about 1996.  I guess I'm not the only member here who has or does.

Currently I'm still using Windoze 8.1.  It does all I want, and I've got used to it.  But it does have some really annoying things that I've been unable to turn off - the charms, for example.    Tappingfoot
I also had a really stressful experience when it automatically updated to 10 a few years ago.  I spent ages trying to roll it all back.  Normally, I don't allow updates, but that particular one caught me out.  Also, I now get messages every time I start the laptop telling me that I have to update to 10 or my device will become unusable.  I can see this situation getting worse once 10 is forcibly replaced by 11 later this year.

Recently I've read of someone using Linux.  To be honest I didn't understand a lot of the language, but it seems to be a case of "install it and forget it".  No forced updates to deal with - or learn to live with.  But is it useable enough for a technophobe?  I bricked a laptop years ago and don't want to risk doing it again.

I recently purchased two C7005 in car chips. I have never used this chip before, preferring the larger Slotit chip, but the cars I'm working on now are smaller and don't have the room.
The first one went into a Scalextric C3 L88 vette. Install went well and car functions were perfect.
The next chip I stuck into a Scalextric Ferrari 330. Again the install went well and testing showed it worked flawlessly. That is until I put the top half of the body on. Then the car was dead. No lights, no movement, nothing.
Now when I test the chip, no electricity seems to pass from the guide leads through the chip and the only way to make the car run is if I connect power to the chip where the motor wires connect to the chip.
Is the chip shot? What could have happened? The bottom of the chip was resting against the the motor case when I put the car back together. Could this have shorted something on the chip?
I see Dr. C has a thread about replacing mofets and diodes. Is this a solution to revive the chip?
I've attached some photos for reference.

This is a ‘printed’ body shell from Slot Car Corner in the States. It was advertised as a resin body so it was a bit of a surprise to see it as a printed shell as I’m not partial to the effort to smooth the surface of these. Oh well… The graphics were sourced online from ‘Slot Car Fever’. I chose this scheme as I live in Kentucky! Decals need to be placed on the rear quarter windows. It needs a little better cockpit treatment and driver. The CB Design ‘steelies’ wheels need red paint. The LED head and tail lights will get installed along with a Slottechnik chip. It will be finished very soon!

Hello everybody,
Once again Roger Barker will have a stand at the Toyfair on Saturday 8th February at Musselburgh Sports Centre.

For clarity, my interest is purely as a paying customer and slot-car hobbyist.

Spotted these on a Spanish Scalextric Facebook story from Nuremberg…

Hello,

here I present my project, a module for my ‘still’ Carrera carpet railway. I tried to create as realistic a landscape as possible on the track module. In addition to the colour scheme of the track surface, the raised kerbs, rocks, ground design with earth and artificial turf (electrostatic grassing) and crash barriers were particularly important to me. For the latter, the crash barriers, despite numerous attempts with different materials, I couldn't avoid buying the crash barriers from a sheet metal modeller because I liked them so much.

I would like to build a complete track in this (or a similar) style one day - if I have enough time.

I realise that there is still a lot that can be improved. But as I myself went looking for a compact, detailed construction report containing all the above-mentioned components a few years ago and didn't find what I was looking for, I thought maybe someone could do something with this construction report.

I also look forward to similar reports from other forum members.

Howdy! This AABodies Talbot is a work in process. It took a bit of ‘hot bathing’ to straighten it and a little grinding and scraping to clean it up. I’m happy with the basic product but it does require some effort. One of these days I’ll learn to primer paint better. The Molotow chrome pen grill work needs a little more work. The chassis is drawn up on paper but not built. Stay tuned!

New 2025 releases announced by Scaleauto on their website and Slot.it on their FB homepage.

Too many to mention, and many that need guessing from the obscure manufacturer references provided where no licenses obtained...

Here’s a BSR body kit. It was pre-painted. Molotow chrome pens used to add bright work. CB Designs insert wheels used. A brass chassis was fabricated for inline drive. A Series 1 coupe is my favorite car, the Lotus Elite comes second and this car is third. What a beauty! It runs very well, too!

I recently saw a one half straight that combines Policar track to Ninco track. This makes me wonder how similar Policar is to Ninco and if the curve radius would allow say a Policar outer curve with a Ninco inside curve so a 4 lane track could be made?
I currently have a lot of Ninco track, but would need more R4 curves to complete some larger layouts. Ninco R4 curves are quite scarce these days.
