This car was built a few years ago for an early 60's F1 proxy, and as I was set on doing a copy of Dan Gurney's 1962 French GP winner, I was relegated to using the model from Lindberg that was produced in 1965. Like the other GP cars Lindberg launched in 65, it was OK (at best) , but, really needed a bit of work to make it something you would be proud of.
Lindberg also did a LolaMK1V, Ferrari 156, Lotus 24, Cooper, and a BRM "stackpipe"...(the "stackpipe" is on another tread on this forum)
Anywho........here is where I started.
And after a bit of remodelling,...I got this
The chassis is a simple
single rail design, which is more than adequate, given the slow motors and skinny tyres that the proxy mandated.
And on track with a few friends..!!

I was always a Graham Hill fan, and a bit of a BRM fan, however, I was not really a Cox fan, as while they were certainly beautiful, they were not the hot ticket at the commercial tracks, so, my Slotbox did not have any Cox cars in it..................fast forward a few years (actually several) and I began to buy a few Cox cars on epay to build up and put in my display case. Interestingly enough, they are more at home on my "club" track than they ever were on the commercial monsters.
Anyway, I built this Cox BRM 10/15 years ago, (I just re discovered the pictures hidden in a family holiday file) and thought it worth a post. I don't have any chassis pics., but, it is a series II car (can drive), and has had a few other minor tweaks, including a major motor rebuild.....runs great!!......quicker than many current plastic cars.

Preferably scaleauto or similar...... As I can't seem to find a new one anywhere online in UK
Well today was an interesting day regarding tweaking/modification of slot cars. This in turn opened my eyes to the requirement to get my tools and tool box in order.
I am in need of a Hex Wrench's (Allen Key) specifically an M2 0.50 so I can tweak the front tyres on the Lola.
Unfortunately I don't have one small enough, after some searching I see these are available as an individual item however I would like to buy some sort of kit that has various sizes, cheaper in the long run and everything I can find so far is for larger use, e.g. bed frame assembly, none of which are small enough for slot car repairs.
So, does anyone here know of such a kit that you have and could recommend. If I need to import then so be it, would prefer Australia though.
Cheers

While I am a huge fan of the Russkit "Carrera" chassis cars (you had to be a very decent scratchbuilder, to beat one of these RTR cars), their earlier releases left a lot to be desired from a performance perspective.
In April 1965, Russkit launched the Cooper and Ferrari 156 F1 kits, both supplied with their new "Spyder" brass chassis........all good except the chassis was made of very thin brass, and even a good breeze could bend it out of alignment......not the hot ticket for the wide open commercial tracks of the time, and while several were sold, not many (likely zero) made it to any race podiums.
However, like any slot car, they can be made to run much better, and this one has been reinforced with .055 and .047 piano wire along all of the suspension arms and suspension uprights. It came with a Russkit "22" 16D motor, and while certainly OK for this chassis, it was soon made obsolete by the Russkit "23" and many other 16D motors that were literally arriving on the slot shop shelves weekly.
Other than the reinforced chassis, and freezing the drop arm (they didn't work then , and don't work now), I built this one stock. The parma "pink" crown has been replaced with the correct crown.
Anyway for anyone who has not seen one ,.....here she be !!
Cheers
