New to this site. Went to sell my collection of HO goodies. In process I met up with a group of 1/32 gents. So...12 years later and 200 cars, I now race 1:32, 1:25, and still tinker with HO.  Favorite classes for me are 50/60s classics, Gt3, Trans Am, and Dirt track modifiers.  I build as much as much as I can in winter. I live in Minneapolis, Mn.

Things have been fairly quiet from AFX Racemasters recently. The Nevada-based outfit - who run the slot car side of the huge Tomy corporation - haven't released a new model for what seems like ages. However, three new classic American muscle cars have just been announced...

The first is a 1970 Chevy Chevelle - mounted on the 1.7 Mega-G+ chassis. This livery will appear in the new 'Big Block Battlers' set, an exclusive to Horizon Hobby in North America. The Chevelle will be accompanied in the set by a red Ford Mustang BOSS...

These are pictures of pre-production samples, so there may be slight changes in the final release.

The second new car is Chevy Corvette...

Technically, those are two new cars - the yellow one a 1968 327 'Vette and the blue a 1969 427 model. Both are hand-painted prototypes, so expect cleaner and more detailed finishes on the final product. These two 'Vettes will be released in a new 'America's Sport Car' set sold exclusively through RC SuperStore in North America. The 'Vettes are built to fit the 1.5 Mega-G+ chassis - and will probably be backward compatible to most of the old Tomy AFX and Aurora AFX chassis - as well at the Viper V1 and V-Jet.

The Chevelle and the Corvettes are moulded in clear plastic to give clear windows - and are fitted with an interior tray. AFX promise more liveries on the Corvette and Chevelle bodies will be available in 2021 as both set and individual cars.

The AFX website is afxracing.com. Some AFX cars are available in Europe via Slot Car Direct in the UK (here) and H0Slot in Switzerland (here).

Thanks to Charlie at AFX for sharing the photos.

I bought 2 of the latest resin bodies from Ocar . They are superb but, having huge issues with painting.

You can see the orange peel effect.  I have sanded the bodies twice, cleaned with toothbrush and cleaner with a grit.  Still having issues with coverage.

Any ideas??

I'm now on my second ARC Pro power station. The unit works well for a few days and then the power to the inside lane goes away. The lane change function has also gone. Am I just the unlucky victim of 2 defective power station or is there something in my track layout that could be causing this. I've renewed my interest in slot cars after about a 50 year time away and gathering an understanding of the new digital technology with the help of great tools like the site. But I know there is alot I don't know so any help in tracking down the possible reason for this power loss would be greatly appreciated. I have 2 of the Scalextric transformers plugged into the power station and I'm running 85 feet of track. If I reinstall the wired digital power station everything works fine, full power and lane change.  I'm ordering my 3rd ARC Pro power station unless someone can tell me why I'm having this issue and how to eliminate it

As mentioned in my introduction, I have have grown up with Scalextric since my young days in Coventry in the 70s and 80s. Having accumulated bits and pieces for years I finally had the space to build a permanent track for errr, my two boys.

This is the current iteration. I went through a few attempts and different layouts/scenery before I settled on this version.

Inspiration was the amazing catalogues that Scalextric used to knock out. Images like this one:

I used to see these around when I was young - I grew up near the competitions dept at Stoke Plant. Peugeot Talbot was also my first employer.

I have these 4 gorgeous Vanquish MG cars for sale. I'd love to sell them in pairs or all together as a herd. Lightly run (except for the Red McLaren M8D which was never run) The 3 cars I ran have the gear cases filled with special grease - completely transforms the cars!
Prices don't include shipping. XMas is right around the corner!
On a scale from Junk Yard(1) to Shelf Queen(10)

$165 Red McLaren M8D - Chuck Parsons 1971, 5th Riverside = 10 (BNIB)

$145 White Lola T-260 - Jackie Stewart 1971, Riverside = 9

$125 Orange McLaren M8E - Tony Adamowicz 1971, 6 H Watkins Glen = 8.5

I bought a Fly Ferrari in the box that came with a broken chassis, and no decals. These Fly cars are not known for their box-stock handling capabilities. So I tried making a scratch chassis using the original sidewinder pod. The motor was upgraded to a SlotIt 25k. The plastic pod bushings were upgraded to roller bearings. Oilite bushings were installed for the front axle.

I had to cut the motor housing to get the inner bearing flanges to fit. I probably should have used single flange bearings. But I didn't have any in stock at the time of this build, so I improvised.

I used a brass chassis jig to perfectly line up the axles. Then epoxied the pod onto the aluminum.

Inserts and decals added. The livery chosen was the Targa Florio Ferrari driven by Nino Vaccarella in 1970. Decals came from a mix of stuff.

A brass weight adds cornering stability. 4-screws were also added to the pod/chassis to prevent the shock of an off from separating the assembly.

Thank you very kindly for looking. My humble apologies the last photo below is out of sequence.

Hello - just joined this forum. I’m originally from England, but have been living in Australia for nearly 20 years now.
I have had my Scalextric since I was a nipper growing up in Coventry and have added & upgraded over the years. A couple of years ago I built a 70s/80s themed permanent digital track in our garage for the me and my two boys. I’ll put some more photos of the latest version in the track section.

Cheers, Paul.
