I’ve been trying to pick up something creative to do in my spare time, and it made me wonder…
Do you guys have any other DIY hobbies outside of slot cars?
Could be woodworking, painting, electronics, model building, anything really.
Always cool to hear what people enjoy working on.
G'day All.
I've been a keen slot car-er for a few years now.
Mainly interested in 24th scale though, but like to keep updated with current trends in both 24th and 32nd.
Been doing a fair bit of 3D printing of late.
This site was recommended to me by a friend.
... can anyone identify these tyres please? Came to me on three secondhand Caterhams and they annihalate those I already have on standard tyres.
They are wider, shinier, slightly bigger diameter and as fitted are slightly domed but even so their grip is far superior and the cars run much more quietly too.
I'd love to get some more if I can.
Thanks for looking.
'Sand' coloured Sport borders are very common but I prefer the black with red and white kerbing. Anyone successfully painted sand coloured black, if so what paint did you use please?
We were back at the Barn tonight for our HO Nascar finale, featuring not one, but two winner-takes-all championship showdowns! The excitement couldn't be anything but intense...
A 44-foot 'intermediate' oval was the setting for all the action. And with a 2.0-2.4 second lap, any chaos would be happening just around the next corner.
Over to Gareth for the race report...

Yesterday being day #1 of retirement, I made a useful video (I've thought about doing this for ages).
.
I wanted to video the process of setting up a car, thankfully I had one available, Jamie our latest club recruit needed a car setting up.
This is a little belter, a bargain I found on ebay I (I wish I'd bought it now haha ).

Hi,
I'm planning out my first decent track. I've taken the time to read about track design and have tried to incorporate most of the suggestions I have read.
I'm trying to understand where I should start the elevation on the back straight, the nested r3 and r4 I plan to be banked corners. In the image, I set the pieces to transparent where I think the elevation should start.
My questions I have are;
- is that a good place to start the elevation?
- The double lane changers are they too close to the banked turns (I read this can cause issues)
- the r1 60 turning right connected directly to the r3 nested banking, will that cause an issue, and should I put 1 or 2 extra straight pieces in place to flatten off after the banking?
- Can you identify any other suggestions for improving this layout?
