This is my Rally Track. It is 50m long or if you use the round about it is 100m. The track is routed in 12mm MDF and fitted with tin plated copper braid. It is possible to configure six different rally stages. The design was inspired by Ken Block’s Tiananmen Mountain drift video. Thinking of building another and have no room so expression of interest invited and all reasonable offers considered for this track. Listed price is negotiable. PM for contact details. I found a nifty little HO track plan on this site (  https://slotracer.online/track-plans/tom...-1009.html ). It uses the dreaded hairpin turn. Does anyone have any tricks to using this turn successfully?
I looked at replacing it with a 6” turn [5-1/8 6” curves (left) plus a 9” or 12” 1/8 turn (right)] but a constant radius turn looks out of place with the flowing look of this plan.

Two thoughts:
1) get ride of the molded in “hay bales”.
2) add a conductive strip to the inside lane rails to aid in electric contact.

Thoughts?

Cases of children swallowing magnets have increased five-fold in five years, doctors say. They have recommended a 'strong public health campaign' amid a significant rise in the number of children needing hospital treatment.
If the elf and safety brigade start campaigning for a ban on magnets in toys then Scalextric could be in trouble!   Sweating

Last time, Marc and Ric -  the Slot Car Magazine team - were celebrating 60 issues. This month, it's ten years. Bravo! The May edition is full of great stuff (contents below) and will be available very soon from Pendle Slot Racing (pendleslotracing.co.uk/brand/slot-car-mag). The ebook edition is ready now and costs a mere £1.55 from Lulu here.

Hi all

As I get more into sorting some of my project cars, I'm struggling for some reason on wheels and tyres and how to order

for example -

MRRC 2.7 911 RS kit

1:1 car uses Fuchs 185/70/15 front an 215/60/15 rear, should I use these figures as the basis for the slot car wheels (15 x 6 equiv front and 15 x 8 equiv rear)

And then tyres in two different profiles for 15" wheels

I can usually work stuff out like this but I'm stuffed if I can get my head round it

Without hijacking the TR7 thread the question was posed about two other Scalextric cars from the 'big wheel' era the 911 and Mini Clubman.

Below is some customer 911s using the JS chassis and wing (see under traders).

JS Wing

(JS on the left)

Numerous chassis options available inline, anglewinder & more recently sidewinder for the S can and Boxer motors, and for those who can't be weaned off Slot It pods a Slot It Pod option too.

The 911 can be transformed starting from a low cost option of just new wheels and tyres sticking to IL or you can go up to AW boxer and and a suite of tuning gear to go with it.

Cheers

So all the advice is to use NSR tyres for your fast cars, but when a packet of 4 Supergrips contains the following three examples, you have to question their manufacturing methods.

I can't remember where I bought these from, but the fact they even made it into the pack puts me off spending my money with them.

Hi guys, wondering if anyone has a solution for some temper-mental lane changers. Bought a Scalextric Arc Pro set in January with two X lane changers, which worked perfectly. Then in February I bought a third X lane changer and added it to the track. Worked fine for awhile then stopped resetting after car made a lane change. This affected all the cars on the track. Lane changer would not return to normal setting. After flipping it over and checking under the plastic plates I could not find anything out of the ordinary. Still would not work. Then about a week later I tried it again and "low and behold" it worked fine. Tried another car and again it worked fine.
Now two months go by and the third lane changer is acting up again; same issue as before. Today I tried racing and now a second lane changer is not returning once a car changes lanes. So this makes 2 lane changers not returning after a car changes lanes.
I have had some continuity issues in the past, but have checked track joints and seem to have them fixed. Also I use Inox and clean the track regularly.
Any ideas as to what I need to do to have these back to working again? I really want to have more fun with this set, but am getting a tad frustrated. Is there such a thing as flawless lane changing? Or is this just pie in the sky?

I originally built my track nearly 20 years, ago the aim was to squeeze as much track length into two 8x4 MDF sheets as reasonably possible .
Over years it fell into disrepair including the copper tape lifting and scenic destruction by the cat !
Now I have started my retirement I have a great deal more time for hobbies so decided it was time for refurbishment.
All the tape was removed and surface sanded smooth, routed braid gains, re painted track( influenced by Slot-mods) and laid non magnetic braid.
Ive also invested in an adjustable power supply which is great for my grand-kids at 5 Volts and I have found all my RTR cars run so much smoother at 9 Volts.

Although I can't find any free live coverage, the Automobile Club d'Italia are posting some clips on their YouTube Channel, including these two of today's shakedown...

Thierry Neuville and Ole Christian Veiby are both there in the 'Trofeo WRC' category to work on the Hyundai's tarmac performance. Should be some nice Sicilian views as well.
