I recently came across a small collection of slot cars and track. I have 8 digital chips and it seems only 1 is working, is this a common issue?
Lights on ! " Le Mans Cars are coming "

Policar CAR05b Ferrari 312B2 - #5 Silverstone 1971 - Clay Regazzoni. RRP £62.95. Available 18 June.
The second Policar 312B2 will be arriving with retailers in two weeks time. And it's an absolute cracker - a model of the car in which Ferrari legend Clay Regazzoni claimed pole position at the 1971 British Grand Prix...
The weekend started very well, but then fizzled out with both Regazzoni and Ickx retiring. Nonetheless, it was a Ferrari 1-2 for a few laps...
The Policar model is just beautiful...
It oozes power, speed - and legendary drivers struggling on the limits of adhesion...
There is an updated version of the Policar gearbox - with bevelled plastic pinion and first gear - although from the look of the picture below, the new 312B2 has the original with a brass pinion and plastic crown...
I love these Policar non-mag classic F1 models with their unique pinion + 4-gear transmission - they look sensational and perform wonderfully at home and on club tracks. This Ferrari is definitely on my wishlist.
The Policar CAR05b is being shipped to distributors now and has an official sale date of Friday 18 June. It is available on pre-order now.
Many thanks to Jo at Galileo Engineering for the photos and release details.
HWP Slot Cars will be a vendor at tomorrow's slot car event in Allentown PA at the America On Wheels museum.
If you're nearby, stop on in... I hear the museum itself is amazing.

These two were pretty battered when I got them. I have been working on them on and off for about 18 months.
The Chaparral had cut arches, no rear lights, no exhausts, only the flat plate for the intake trumpets, and the area around the front lights was a mass of old glue.
The Lotus had no roll bar or rear lights and one of the vents on rear deck had been melted under a layer of glue. The screen was rough and the headlight covers were beyond saving.
The Chaparral screen broke while I was trying to clean it up so I bought screens and light covers for both cars from Brad Blohm but in the end decided to rescue the original Lotus screen and I scratchbuilt the other missing bits as best I could.
I got my research wrong and painted the Lotus wheels yellow but I will sort this out later.
They aren't immaculate but are good enough for our vintage 36D class.
NSR 0193 Formula 86/89 Haas Lola #16 Beatrice. 1986 Patrick Tambay / Eddie Cheever. RRP £84.95. Available soon
NSR 0194 Formula 86/89 Haas Lola #33 Beatrice. 1985 Alan Jones. RRP £84.95. Available soon
The latest two NSR Formula 86/89 have certainly piqued my interest. They are decorated in the colours of the Haas Lolas that were raced by Alan Jones and Patrick Tambay in the 1985 and 1986 F1 World Championship...
Although hardly a scale model of the Lola cars, the NSR Formula 86/89 looks good with most liveries from that era - and these look particularly nice...
Indycar team owner Carl Haas put together his F1 project with Lola and sponsors Beatrice Foods in the autumn of 1984. He recruited former McLaren Boss Teddy Mayer, Williams engineer Chris Oatley, plus young designer Ross Brawn. The new team set up base at Colnbrook in Berkshire where the cars were built. 1980 world champion Alan Jones was hired to develop and then race the car - the THL1 making its debut at Monza in the autumn of 1985. Jones qualified the new #33 Lola 9.851 seconds slower than pole-sitter Ayrton Senna and he retired after only 6 laps with a blown engine. The Lola THL1 was powered by the Hart 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, a substitute for the delayed Ford TEC V6 that would eventually be used in the THL2, part of the way through the 1986 season.
Jones - driving the #15 car - was joined by ex-Ferrari and Renault driver Patrick Tambay in the #16 car for 1986. Tambay was briefly replaced by Eddie Cheever for the Detroit Grand Prix after the Frenchman was injured in Canada. The Ford V6 proved unreliable and down on power - the THL2 managing top-tens when it finished, but only scored points three times. The highlight of the season was at the Österreichring - Jones finishing fourth and Tambay fifth. Jones picked up another point at the next race at Monza. However, Beatrice pulled their sponsorship at the end of the season, forcing the closure of the team and the sale of the Colnbrook factory to Brabham...
There's certainly no lack of power with the NSR Haas cars!
The Formula 86/89 is an awesome piece of kit and will be offering some exhilarating racing as slot car clubs return after the pandemic. The full details of the car can be found on the NSR website here.
The two Beatrice models - the #33 1985 Alan Jones car and the #16 Patrick Tambay / Eddie Cheever car - are expected in the UK very soon and can be pre-ordered from Pendle Slot Racing.

If your slot car club is returning from a long period of hibernation, this offer from NSR might be of some interest. Although written in Italian, clubs in other countries should fill in the form if interested. Here's the translated message from NSR...
Quote:NSR SUPPORT THE SLOT CLUBS: “BACK TO RACE” FREE CHAMPIONSHIP
The Covid-19 pandemic has caused massive disasters for nearly two years now. Among these, the closure of the "Slot Club".
Unfortunately, this long period of inactivity has weighed on the expenses of the Clubs, putting many of them in serious difficulty. Now, however, the situation seems to be improving and, for some countries of the world, it is finally possible to reopen the clubs in compliance with anti-contagion regulations.
NSR wants to wholeheartedly contribute to helping clubs resume their activities on the track. NSR's support consists in the completely FREE supply of 10 cars in kit “Porsche 997 GT3” (code 1072AW) for each club, in order to be able to carry out a single-brand championship lasting 5 races.
Requesting the 10 models is very simple, just:
The club will receive the 10 requested models, around the end of July 2021. After receiving the cars, the club undertakes to:
- click on the following link: http://www.nsrslot.it/assets/events/2021...zione.html
- fill in ALL the required fields and send the registration
Applications will be accepted starting from 01/06/2021 and until 30/06/2021.
- carry out a "Porsche 997 GT3 NSR" single-brand championship lasting 5 races by 31/03/2022
- send photos and rankings of each stage of the championship to racing@nsrslot.com, indicating in the email: Name of the club, number and date of the stage.
- use only NSR components on the models received
NSR wishes you a lot of fun, respecting the anti-contagion regulations!
And don't forget to post about your NSR Porsche championship races here on SlotRacer Online
