If you have a look at the 3dp 'What cars have you built etc' thread below

Post 5 is the BRM 154.
In the spirit of Christmas below is the STL file to create this shell and a chassis to go with it.
Shell in 2 parts for printing vertically
Set of intake Trumpets
Chassis to suit Inline with long can Boxer pod
This was one of my early efforts so it is an 'NSR Mosler' version of the car more aimed at getting a slot chassis under it than total accuracy, but I think it captures the spirit of the car.
Cheers & Merry Christmas
JMay
PS thanks go to Jason B for opening up the file limit so I could post the body STL without having to hack it into 3 parts.
Hi folks! Was asked to post a little on my track. It started as a 4 lane Scalextric but is now a 65ft routed 4 lane from MDF. I did a little landscaping as well. I kind of like it. If interested I can post more.
Lol. Well if I could get any picture to post I would post more!
I've been a Hot Wheels vendor for several years. I have a few Hot Wheels laying around. A friend that makes scratch built HO hot rods inspired me to dig into a few boxes. This is what I've come up with.
The 32-Ford has the most complete engine for a hot rod with exhaust and grill
The 33-Ford has no exhaust, or engine scoop. But it comes with plastic fenders, grill, and headlights.
The 34-Ford is similar, but it has an engine scoop. It also comes with plastic fenders, grill, and headlights
The "1/4 Mile Coupe" has the nicest valve covers and blower belt. But you need to add your own engine scoop and exhaust.
The Hooligan comes with nice flat-head V8 cylinder heads. But they likely need to be modified to change the head angle. Odd casting. Nice fenders again.
The Surf Crate comes with a flat, wide engine. Cut some material out of the middle and install a scoop. Trim the crazy long exhaust pipes to barely show 4-pipes on each side under the hood of a car and you're done.
The 56-Ford panel truck comes with a really nice air cleaner mounted on a blower in both chrome, and gold chrome.
The Anglia had a very cool gem hidden under the hood with 8-square intake runners.
Welcome to Ken's Engine Shop! (And surf boards)
Some of this may end up as door prizes for the next HO proxy. Anyone interested?
Hi,
I've got the chance to buy some track off someone and how do I tell if it is compatible with my Moto GP set?
My numbers on the back of my set are CB N B etc and the bits I'm looking at are xn xb xc xnnb xd xr xe.
The person said they had bikes on it so I'm guessing they will link to mine.
Is there a specific way of telling or should I just compare from pics?
Sorry for the dumb question.
Cheers
Tony
As the title states a simple tyre grinder that is mostly 3dp with the addition of some parts obtainable from the local hardware store and the slot spares box.
The motor pod and axle assy pivots on a 5mm rod and the height above the sanding disc or paper is controlled by the knob (with a nut insert) which has a bolt from the base up through it and held under compression by a spring. The rod has a clip ring so the pivot can be withdrawn and the pod removed for servicing etc.
Needs a low rpm boxer motor (NC5 here) with good torque 9:30 gearing and single flange bearings.
It is not a Hudy but it will grind a pair of tyres equally at a pace determined by the power supply and motor heating.
STL files below.
Cheers JMay.
EDIT: From feedback I revised the Pod to take complete inline axle assemblies that use double flange bearings avoiding the need to remove wheels from knurled axles. Revised STL file below.
Revised Pod with bearing retainer STL file
Gday all, I'm new to this but hoping to soak up a lot of info.
I've got myself a moto gp track and love it.
I've got a query 're a layout.
I'll search on the site wear to post it.
Thanks for having me.
Cheers
Tony
I'm just talking about chassis initially, there's a fair few out there classified as 'free to use', I've downloaded a fair few I have to say and not printed any of them as I enjoy designing my own in 3D CAD.
That's not to say these freebies aren't any good, I intend printing one for a Spirit 406 tonight, it'll take a SlotIt pod and as long as it fits should be a huge improvement over Spirits chassis.
The main thing I dislike about it is the guide plate will be printed with supports, this will invariably mean a rough finish underneath when it really needs to be smooth and frictionless. My own chassis have a separate guide plate that is dead flat on the bottom and glued on top of the chassis.
If anyone else is interested in printing this it's here -> Spirit 406 chassis
This is what it will look like...
Not really asking for advice, just having a moan...
I've been lucky, no breakdowns to speak of in my slotting world for quite some time, then 2 weeks ago, during our Sports class at the club my NSR Mosler stopped at turn 1, slipping gear I thought, on closer inspection the motor pod had snapped allowing the back axle to move away from the motor, no problem I thought, got out a spare car, my NSR Corvette which was good enough to win the evenings racing.
Back home I checked out the Mosler, I've got another sidewinder pod. I'll just swap them, WRONG, the new one was an EVO and didn't fit, quick order to Pendle and a few days later an old style pod was in my hands except that it is 5mm shorter than the original, I'm now waiting for a reply to my email asking if they can measure and tell me which pod I need.
In the meantime we had an open day at the club and during the course of the day I got out my Corvette for a demonstration run, it reached turn one and de-slotted at slow speed, picked it up to have a look and the guide plate had snapped, again no crashes, and this was it's first lap since winning sports for me, I'm now about to graft a JS guide tab onto the NSR chassis, why is slotting so difficult?
**NB** The Corvette is the same car that completed the Brighton to John O Groats proxy
