Teaching Tech just posted a great video showing the viability of various, currently available, 3d scanning technologies for the purposes that would most relate to what we hope to do, which is a small part with complex curved, but smooth, geometry with the goal of printing the thing we scanned with minimal work to edit the scan prior to printing.

TLDW: It costs a fortune, and still needs work before printing.

Michael Masi doctoring to get an entertaining race.

Revoslot Endurance Event
“Battle of the Merseysiders”

With Lockdown and everything starting to open up the Liverpool HPSCC club was looking to run some different types of events as well as run its standard club races which are run in heats throughout the year
Hawthorne Park Slot Car Club HPSCC runs a lot of classes on it’s club nights (usually two classes per night) so that it becomes difficult to introduce any new class,  especially if it’s an expensive outlay for the members.
A few of the club members had purchased a few of the Revoslot range but besides running them on their home tracks or a fettling session at the club track none had been run competitively ( it had been thought that the models would not be competitive against the members open class cars in our existing classes*) .
The Revoslot cars are incredibly detailed and drive very well, so discussions were had on how to get a club race started for them.
The main concern was that not all the members had possession of a Revoslot, but some had, also at the same time,  ideas were being processed on a mini endurance event for the members. So the thought process was to combine the endurance event with the Revoslot class, hence the idea of a Revoslot Endurance team event where only one  car to be run  per team.  Advantages were :

1: Sharing of cars, so no expense for members and the opportunity for members to run a RevSlot in a competition
2: An endurance event which was not on a normal Friday club night so was a one off event.
3:Another positive which came out was to offer the event to our neighbouring Club, Wirral Slot Racing Club which is located to the south of the Mersey. The WSR already had RevSlot as a club series so they could easily bring teams across the Mersey to compete.

So once the idea was mooted and allowed to be discussed a date was announced all before Christmas, which was going to be acceptable to both clubs but did give enough preparation time for members to get familiar with the cars.

Team selection was discussed and the idea of copying the British GT championship in having teams as rated drivers eg Gold, silver and bronze so making the teams more balanced and the hope was to have close racing as opposed to the two best drivers just smashing it and leaving all behind.
So teams were selected in ability and who owned a RevSlot car being the considerations.  A good byproduct is that the better drivers helped the lesser drivers, by coaching and giving positive feedback.

So the first round was set for the 19th Dec 2021 at the Liverpool Club, 8 teams were entered with each team consisting of two drivers . Teams were gold / bronze or silver /silver in their composition.

GOLD being drivers who win most rounds and set the fastest laps consistently
SILVER being those member who sometimes win and set fast laps perhaps not as consistent as other members.
BRONZE being drivers who are new or less experienced than long time club members.

As in the British GT racing championship there would be a pit window were driver changes would take place, the timing was 12 minutes on each lane and driver changes after 5 and before 7 mins so both drivers had a reasonable time allocations change over.

All the Gold drivers started the heats first stint leaving their team mates to hold on in the second stint.
Gold drivers with Bronze,  Peter Crane/ Mike Broadbent, Ted Martin/ Louis Paz, Mike Guy/Paul Minis, Steve Hills/ Geoffrey Taylor.
Teams from the Wirral  were silver silver , Peter Wright/ Adam Price,  Paul Taylor/John Dodd, Steve Doulson / Kev Lea.

Pete Crane/  Mike Broadbent team were the early leaders closely followed by the Steve Hill/ Geoff Taylor especially as Steve H got to grips with the track and his pace increased. Mike Guy and Paul Minis also were in contention throughout the competition. Strong showing from the two Phil’s, Phil Clayton and Phil Hayes  with the Wirral teams showing some pace especially noteworthy as they were unfamiliar with the track.
Ted  and Louis had an up hill battle as Louis was only competing in his second slot car race as he is a new member to the club.

The race ended in a fantastic fight between team Pete/ Mike, Steve/ Geoff and Mike /Paul  which ended in just two laps separating the winners from second place the lead was exchanged throughout the race.
The battle for second was really close and this ended on the same lap 328.181 too 328.004.
The win going to Steve and Geoff , second place going to Mike/Paul nipping it in the closing stages from Pete/Mike.

“ Set up plates “being given out curtesy of Truspeed controllers to all teams completing.

Hopefully lockdown COVID permitting the return match will be held at the Wirral Track were the Hawthorne Park members will have a battle with the regular members competing on their home track.
The whole competition was enjoyed by all participants as it was a new experience which joined the clubs together socially as well as a strengthen the individual club members involvement.

“Let the Merseyside Revoslot Endurance begin “
*Steve Hills has driven his Revoslot as fast as any other open class car on the Club track, which proves if the cars are run they get a lot faster.

Good day everyone.

This a list of broadstrokes changes to the existing rules.
As the new race director for this proxy, I'd like to extend a welcome to all of you here at Slotracer Online. I really hope to see many new entries from outside North America.

I'm new to this role, but my plan is to stick around in this role for a few proxies (years). I'm not new to racing, as I've done my share of road racing, hillclimbing, autocross and organizing race events for almost 4 decades, however I've only been involved with slot cars for about 3yrs. I'm looking forward to creating a fun, DIVERSE proxy.

I'm very much a fan of the notion that few rules makes for interesting racing. However be aware the few rules that are there, will be non-negotiable.

I'm not a fan of is everyone running the same make of car and seeing a parade of, for example 914/6's, filling up the top of the leader board. I want to see multiple cars filling up those top spots. If during the course of this season's events a clear over achiever shows up with multiple same cars filling the top spots, you will need to assume it will become a non starter the following season.

I hope to have the full and complete rules in place and posted here by Feb 1st, with a delivery deadline in Lake Country, BC, Canada likely set for July 1st.

Registrations & entertaining requests for car numbers to be held are not open until registration starts. At that time car numbers are held for those who are either:
- 1st prior HRW Trans Am U2.5 L entrants from 2020, #'s will be held for 1 month from registration opening day.
- 2nd prior HRW Trans Am O2 entrants from 2021, #'s will be held for 1 month from registration opening day.
After this time all unclaimed numbers will be available.

Here are the basics on several important rules. The broadstrokes are as follows:
- Certain dominant over achievers not be allowed to enter for example the 914/6. I will scour the U2 history to see if there is another one.
- Only untreated rubber tires of your choice will be allowed.
- Motors will be open. No size, or typical configuration (sw, aw or inline) limits. Rubber tire fitment on a maximum 15x8.5mm wheel will dictate what will work.
- 3D printed bodies will be allowed. However if the body is readily available as a RTR car from a slot car manufacturer, I highly recommend using those as opposed to 3D printing something. Any 3D body entered must provide in advance all detailed 1:1 dimensions and the appropriate 1:32 scale dimensions. Appropriate online links will be required including photos of actual cars, plus all dimensions printed on paper and shipped to be included with the cars. They will be measured. The burden of proof will be on the entrants to prove their car is legal to race in this proxy and that it will pass the technical inspection.
- The HRW previously published Trans Am 2020 TA U2.5 car entry list from 1966 up to 1976 will be used as a base list. There will be a few additions and at least one deletion. I can always make changes next time if it is deemed appropriate. See that list here:

https://www.hrwforum.com/forum/hrw-all-s...nge-roster

- All cars must meet a minimum 1mm clearance under all parts of the car during tech inspection, except tires and guide. No exceptions. During events no part of the car may contact the track other than the guide and tires. NO exceptions. If a track contact situation comes up during an event the host will contact me and it will dealt with by me as needed.
- Fully painted and decaled cars will be required, simulating any livery or race team, actual or fictional, with a minimum 2 decals, which could alternately be racing stipes or secondary colored body parts... think 2 tone paint. No single colored, unsponsored cars allowed.

Thank you to all who have come before me to make this possible, as well to those who have counseled me to this point. Your experience is invaluable to me.

All of these changes are to hopefully encourage more entrants to try something different.

It you'd like more information on this proxy historically or currently you can find more at:

Thank you to everyone for your support to this point and I hope those of you who commit to this series will enjoy it.

Just spotted this interesting post on FaceBook.  Slot Track Scenics scanned a chap at the recent Winter Slot Car Market in November and have sent the subject his 1:32 figurine.

If you don't "do Facebook" that's fine with me, no need to tell me.

Well I've been lurking for a little bit and thought I'd try and contribute to the community.
I'm having a go at making myself a sign truck for my collection which only exists of Moto GP bikes at the moment but the bug has already kicked in and I've got other vehicles planned already.
I have this little 1/32 Kinsmart toy which you pull back and it shoots off.
I know there is nice kits on Pendle's but I will be spending loads there in the near future and fancied trying to make this work.
I cut the roof just behind the side door and saved the back window best I could.

I then roughly glued it, the back of the van is obviously different to the middle so it'll need a bit of tweaking.

Then had my first crack at Milliput, this stuff is great.

After some sanding, I'm quite happy how it has worked out so far.

I'm just waiting for a underpan with axle's and some old wheels plus it's motor to be delivered from seconhand-scalextric shop, royal mail seems to be quite random at the moment. We haven't seen our postie since last Friday.

I will eventually change the tyre's/wheels either Pendles VW ones or I quite like old wire wheels they have.
The plan is to make a wooden deck on the back and some sort of racking to tie an old wooden ladder to.
The front bumper is missing (it was one of my sons toys Bigsmile ) and the back is broken so I need to hunt round the charity shops for donner or there is some on ebay, but the ones I've seen postage is silly for something I'll be chopping.
I've already got ideas of how I want to signwrite it, parts of it might be by hand but I'm definitely going to be using Colin's decal skills at C & C Designs Slot Cars.

I can't really do much more until the chassis comes, I'm itching to crack on.
Hopefully it doesn't need too much tweaking, if it does I will buy a adjustable chassis kit from Pendle and use the second hand one on something else.

Any advice is more than welcome if you can see I'm heading towards a problem of it actually working on the track.

Cheers Tony

Does anybody know what has happened to Gareth of Chase Cars? The website still functions but everything is out of stock. His Facebook page hasn't been updated since 2019 and I haven't seen Gareth at the UKSF for a couple of years prior to the virus thing. No reply to emails either.
