WHO Nascar & Gen 6 Cup Race Night - Wednesday 2 November - Round 11 of the 2020-22 WHO club championship.
We'll be racing on an AFX version of another defunct Nascar circuit, but this time it's a totally legendary North American racing venue...
Wednesday evening is the finale of our 2020-2 WHO Nascar championship, with the standings looking like this...
The AFX Mega-G+ Gen6 class has a special winner-takes-all shoot-out at the end of the evening - any drivers who've won the Gen 6 class during the 2020-2 season qualify, with any remaining spaces on the four-car grid filled by the top points scorers. This is how it looks...
Our HO regulations can be found here: https://www.whoracing.org.uk/rules.html
Doors open at 6.30pm - please don’t arrive earlier (unless you’re part of the set-up crew, of course). We ask that all racers aged 12 or younger bring a responsible adult with them. Race fees: £3 adults and £2 under-16s.
Club Cars & Controllers: Our AFX Mega-G+ club cars remain available – each of them stays on its coloured lane. We also have a big box of DS, Parma and Ninco loaner controllers to borrow one for the whole evening. There is no extra charge for using either the club cars or the controllers.
Covid precautions: Covid cases are rather high at the moment, so we’ll be keeping our usual common-sense precautions to keep vulnerable members of our WHO family safe. The main thing is to stay away if you feel unwell or think you might have Covid. Inside the Barn, wearing a face mask, practising good hand-hygiene and giving each other space are non-negotiable requirements. We will ensure as good ventilation as possible - and also have hand sanitiser and spare masks available if you forget your own. Any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Results and a race report will follow on Thursday
Based on the number of videos popping up on all my accounts, this NASCAR driver seems to have found a loophole in the rulebook that seems to go against both the spirit and principle of the race series!
What the...
First test prints of the 3D model Spitfire 1500 I’ve been working on. There will also be a GT6 Mk3 and Spitty with the rag top up. The translucent one is in resin at 1/64 scale (yes, it fits a T-Jet), and the orange one is a filament print at 1/32 scale just to test it out. Man... that big one would take a TON of Bondo to smooth that thing out! Still have to knock the print supports off the orange. It gives me an idea for a rally variant with skirt package. The final bodies will be printed in the much smoother resin and fit with a proper chassis and scale wheels that tuck inside the body... not into the Fray car look.
It is a truth, universally acknowledged, that Silverstone circuit is run by the BRDC for the sole benefit of the BRDC members and spectators are regarded as a necessary nuisance.
The supreme example of this is the labyrinthine method of purchasing tickets which I have recently had to navigate for this weekend's event.
If you buy tickets for any MSV circuit such as Brands Hatch etc. then you log on, buy and they are emailed to you within five minutes. In case of any queries each circuit publishes its daytime phone number and email address. Simples.
Now try Silverstone - log on, buy and you get an email saying your tickets will be ready in your account a week before the event when you will get another email so you can log on all over again and print them off. WHY? Exactly what is wrong with immediate email despatch?
The plot now thickens, my tickets did not appear in the stated time frame so I needed to raise a query. This is what appears on the "contact us" page of their website:
"If you have a query that we haven’t been able to answer online, please use the enquiry form on this page. Our Customer Services team are available Monday to Friday and will reply within 5 working days. We’re really sorry – we don’t currently offer over-the-phone customer service."
The mind boggles - a business with no phone access and up to five days to answer a simple query. They really are about as much use as an origami condom. The page should really be named "don't contact us because we don't give a toss about paying spectators."
My tickets have finally appeared after I sent them a somewhat terse communication. Thank goodness I only go there once a year.
Hi guys,
Looking for advice for prepping a mk2 SCX escort for a potential proxy rally entry. The current tyres are not the best, has anyone got any tips for tyres (prepping the current ones or rubber replacement) plus any other tuning tips would be greatly received.
Cheers
Evening,
Does anyone cut their own 3/32 axles for scratchbuiding ?
If so, what exactly do you use?
3/32 stainless steel rod, like K&S, KS 87133 seems about right from searching.
Any thoughts or suggestions.
Thanks,
Pip
After many many years of using Scalextric Sport track in various guises, Viking SCC have taken the plunge and invested in a replacement 6 Lane Policar track!
Installation of the track is nearly complete and initial tests have resulted in very big grins! The overall quality and engineering of the track, and the way in which it goes together is an immediate massive improvement.
More photos and information will be coming soon.
I have many changed times of layout but see picturs of fix layouts looking good but a lot of work? How you can changed after fixing? I cannot choose to fix layout because I like to changed it. How you keep a fix layout happy with it and not to changed it ? I do not know why. When you play on fixed layout is bored after time maybe weeks and months pass by? You cannot changed it so how it is happy for long not bored? I changed many times to new layout to keep intrested in it but fix layout always same so must be bored? Sory English, person not here.
