......yeah yeah, apart from that.

I've been looking at the BRM 24th scale cars over the last year and lusting over the Alfas. However, when informed that the one I wanted was in stock, I decided that a) I couldn't justify spending120€ on one car and b) the damn things are so pretty that I'm not sure if I would risk damaging it.

I don't do shelf queens. All my cars get run until I know just how fast they can go. I decided not to get it as the dilemma was too big a hurdle.

That sneaky wife of mine has been looking over my shoulder and this box arrived a few days ago.

Now what do I do?

I had a request to build one of the NSR 86/89 cars in the Aryton Senna "Camel" Lotus 99T livery. The car will be raced on wood, so the heavy FK-180 was swapped out for a Piranha FC-30, and NSR rubber tire are used. The stock pinion/Crown were replaced with an MB Slot pinion, and a Slot-it Crown. The rear axle has been swapped out for a Koford axle.

I really do not like using the motor shaft to control gear mesh, so, the shaft was cut, and spacers were used on either side of the Crown to control lateral play........using spacers between the Crown, and each rear axle bushing ensures that the mesh will never be affected,..as is the potential case when spacers are used on the outside of the rear axle bushings

The car was painted with Tamiya "Camel" yellow, with decals from Virage, Indycals and the decal box.........the "Senna" helmet is from Interlagos miniatures, and coupled with a few decals on Senna's driving suit, really make the car.

Cheers
Chris Walker

Hi folks,

Although I'm relatively new to SlotRacer Online, I expect I'll know a few of you from other places and slot clubs, but here's a few basics.

I've recently retired after a career in the 1:1 scale car business. I've been a slot car fan since childhood.  I used to race at a few clubs in the south of England (Liphook and Farnham mosty) and I've visited a few more far flung places (furthest was Switzerland).

I was an admin on SlotForum when it started twenty odd years ago and I was involved in hosting and running the first Slot Rally GB event and the NSCC 25th Anniversary event back in 2005.

Although I don't race at a club these days, I do spend more time than ever with a controller in my hand as I have a permanent track set up and lots of time to play.

I recently started a slot car podcast - Talking Utter Slot - with Peter, AKA Wankel Ickx.

Hello all,
Am looking for a Scalextric MG Metro with Rothmans livery as driven by Jimmy McRae. These have always been rare and pricey so looking for a fairly decent pre-owned one and hoping to pay 50gbp or less. Glazing must be undamaged, but missing mirrors and wing damage would be ok.

Prefer in the UK but might be tempted to get from EU if price and shipping to UK is in budget.

PMs please, I will provide email address for photos.

Morning all

Does anyone have any recommendations for a half decent soldering iron that I can get in the UK? looking for a mains powered one.

My soldering skills are fairly rubbish at the best of times, however I'm blaming my tools as the little gas powered iron I have barely gets hot enough to melt plastic let alone solder (or my fingers  Bigsmile)

Thanks

Old man from North Georgia in the USA here.  Looking forward to learning a lot on here and eventually getting a nice home track set up.

The 2023 Scalextric catalogue is schedule to be unveiled at 10am GMT on Tuesday 10 January. As usual, all the new items will go live on the website around that time and we'll all have the opportunity to see what's there, create wishlists and pay for some pre-orders...

The Scalextric team have kindly offered to talked me through their new products, offering information and answering questions that will be of particular interest to Scalextric racers, as well as collectors. The plan is for our SlotRacer coverage to delve a little deeper into the new range from around midday GMT, maybe a little before.

In the meantime, what are you hoping for this year?
